Guest guest
Patty, The surgery went well. Dr. was very impressed with the way his eye looked at his post-op visit the next day. We go back again this Thursday, so I hope things are still great. Take care. Deadra Emeraldsx3@... wrote: Hi Deadra: I am way behind in email (once again) so I may be repeating others. Glad to hear your daughter is okay from totaling her car. Scary for all of you I am sure. How did Chase's surgery go at I am thinking Mass Eye and Ear? I hope it went as smooth as possible and it is a success. Six months, I hope they fly by. Great news about his joints. Good luck with the tapering of Cyclosporine. Take care. Guest guest
Deadra, 0 No cells 1/2+ 1-5 cells 1+ 6-15 cells 2+ 16-25 cells 3+ 26-60 cells 4+ 60 and above cells The " cells " are actually groups of white blood cells collected together that can be seen under the slit lamp. They are floating in the aqueous solution. The grading numbers reflect the relative level of inflammation of the iris. With our last flare of iritis last spring, Hunter had a couple/few dozen cells visible and he was put on pred forte 3xdaily. I can't imagine what you and Chase are going through, and my heart and prayers go out to you, Deadra. I can only pray for quick improvements for you guys. Guest guest
Hi Deadra, Did they tell you, beforehand, that this was a possibility - that Chase's sight might deteriorate so rapidly afterwards? Were they able to explain why? I know you said the odds were only 50/50 that the procedure Dr. did would help his eyesight but I had no idea the loss could happen so quickly! Chase is being as brave as could be. This must be such a nerve-wracking time for you and the rest of the family, though. My thoughts are with you ... and I hope that something good will come out of this. I hope there will be some improvements and that it's just a matter of time and healing. What about the patch therapy you mentioned? Is that still an option to try? Aloha, Georgina Deadra Dunbar wrote: > Chase went back to the eye doctor this morning. His eyesight is now 20/80 and it was 20/70 last Friday. My husband was very upfront to the doctor. He is new to our case. Our original local doctor is no longer practicing so we have to bring this new doctor up to date on Chase. It seems we take one step forward and two steps back. Chase is taking this so well. He has more strength and courage than I ever would have. He never complains about bloodwork, the infusions, his eyesight or anything. He just says that his eyes are foggy. We go back next Thursday. Hopefully I will have some good news then. > Deadra and Chase 6- pauci and uveitis
Guest guest
Dr. just said that with the surgery on the left eye, it was the last hope of regaining any eyesight. He had said that it would take up to six months till we would know if it is a success. As far as the patch therapy, I don't know if or when we can begin it. He will definately need cataract surgery sooner than later now. We go back to Boston December 9th, so we should know more then. The rheumy called Friday and apologized for Chase's flare up. She didn't think anything would happen because he was on such a low dose of cyclosporine. It was the combination of stopping this and the one drop of pred forte that we think did it. He had an infusion on Thursday, so she was surprised that he had the flare-up. She is going to talk to Dr. about stopping the cyclosporine again because he is on such high potent meds, and upping the dosage of the Remicade. Well, I'll stop rambling. Take care.
