Guest guest
e, My husband brought our two daughters to NY this summer. He stayed at the Sheraton Four Seasons in the Chelsea district. He said it was affordable and clean. The rooms were small, but functional. It was in a safe area. He took the subway or walked wherever they needed to go. He said that there were so many cops around, if he got lost he would just ask a policeman. If you want to talk to him, let me know. (n, 15, systemic) FYI --He said of everything that they did, that the water tour around Manhattan was the best deal. It was $27 and you toured the whole island of Manhattan and got a better view of the Statue of Liberty than if you went there for a tour. I am hoping and praying that we will be able to not only finance my daughter's trip to Carnegie Hall but that we will be able to go see her play. We have never been there before. We know nothing, like where would be safe to stay yet affordable, which airport to fly into etc etc. Any help you can provide would be wonderful. > > Thanks in advance, > > e, mom to joe 17 poly > > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
Hi e: I have a lot of family in NY and a friend that goes for the shows. I will ask them for the ins and outs for you. Take care. Patty
Guest guest
Hi e, My boss loves the city, and goes frequently. She is also very cost conscious. She uses Expedia for her hotel reservations, and likes to stay in the Times Square area. She got my 20 yr old daughter and her roommate from Philly to Central Park via turnpike, NJ transit and subway with no problems. They had a wonderful time. I was down in the theater district area one night last month and it was quite safe, and fun. New York is expensive, but my understanding is that Seattle is as well, so maybe you won't have as much sticker shock as you are thinking. I will ask her tomorrow about hotels and costs and touch base with you again. Christy (Abbie, 15 systemic) OT: New York Info Needed > > Hello all, > > This is completely off topic post here. Guest guest
e, I talked to my boss and got a little more information. She said that she has been using HotWire so that she can pick a district. She usually stays in midtown Manhattan, and expects to pay around $150 a night. More between Thanksgiving and New Years. Be very careful about cheaper places. Even if they are in a nice area they can be very dirty. Another alternative is to stay in Jersey and take NJ transit in.
