Guest guest
Stacia: Thanks for passing this info on. Also, so glad you brought up 'flu mist' as I had forgotten that was a live virus and should be avoided by our kids on immunosuppressant drugs. Rob, and I will get our shots this week. We always premedicate with Tylenol and remember to massage the shot area...the soreness goes away faster. And you are right...those tetanus shots stink! and Rob 15 Spondy On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 03:45:42 -0000 " staciar101 " <staciar@...> writes: Hi all, At our rheumy appt today, we had an interesting discussion about some late-breaking news about MRA, the IL-6 inhibitor. As many of you know, IL-6 has been identified as the best known action to take specifically with systemic JRA. Rheumy had just gotten back from a recent ACR conference in Sun Valley, ID. There, he learned that the drug company, Roche, headquartered in Switzerland, that manufactures MRA, WILL be doing drug studies in the US. An adult study of MRA is imminent and our clinic will be part of that. Next year, a pediatric study of MRA is on the books. The reason this is so surprising is that as recently as late July at the AJAO Conference, the rheumy's there told us that Roche insisted that is would not do any US drug studies, for whatever reason. I'm pleased as punch and am cautiously hopeful for great results. As we all know, this all takes time. One step at a time.... Colleen, did you already know this???? There's another ACR conference in San in Oct. where our rheumy is looking forward to networking and getting more info on this and many other subjects. Guest guest
Colleen, Of course I had you in mind when I posted this news. I understand your paranoia and wanting to stay under the radar with the docs on this, to an extent. I didn't get any specific dates, but I didn't push for them either. I am wondering if Humira gets Caitlin under control by the time of the study, would you still do the MRA study? You've probably already thought of this, but getting your hands on the criteria for patients would be really key for you to get ASAP. (sorry to be so obvious)lol I hope Caitlin is the perfect candidate, but doesn't have to suffer too much waiting for it.
