Guest guest
Hi Patty, has had the rash but always with active arthritis and he has had active arthritis without the rash.Everytime he would get a weird rash without any arthritis symptoms I would call his rheumy and they always wanted to know if he was waking up stiff in the morning.I guess thats a clue that something is on it's way. One way to know if it's Stills, but not always is that it is constantly moving around,it never stays in the same place for long, but when had the suposedly reaction to Enbrel those nasty hives jumped around also. Guest guest
Patty, Yes, you can get the rash with nothing else. Usually, it can come with the fever, but n only had the fevers at onset five years ago. n's disease first presented with the rash and nothing else. Don't panic yet, wait to see what happens. You will drive yourself crazy with worry otherwise. n's rash does itch, and sometimes she itches without the rash. The doctors tell us that it isn't supposed to itch, but we have five years of itching. We also have five years of headaches without an answer, but that is another story. n's rash is usually under the skin, but this year for the first time it got more like hives. When n itches bad we start her on zyrtec for a week or whatever is needed, and that helps. I will also add that n now gets off and on chest pain. The doctors say it is not her heart, but it can really hurt her. It is right at her sternum. They also say it isn't acid reflux. Hang in there. Guest guest
Hi patty, Back when my son was 5 yrs old, (he is 9 now) he did have the systemic rash without any other symptoms, but at the time, we were told it was most likely a contact dermatitis rash. The rash was all over his body, especially on his torso, and it lasted for about a week, and was gone, with no other symptoms at all. As a matter of fact, he had several issues with rashes before that, and we never knew exactly what they were, so again, nothing was done about them. I do remember a few months after that supposed contact dermatitis rash, he did complain about leg and arm pain, and he had developed a limp that lasted about a week, and it began a monthly series of sinus infections and on and off joint pain, but nothing that could ever be pin pointed. I don't know how much this info helped you, but I thought I would tell you my experience! > Hi Everyone: > > I have a question for all the Still's/Systemic parents out there (and anyone > with any information on the subject). > > Has anyone's child had the Still's rash, but no other symptoms? Guest guest
Hi Patty, In my experience with Robbie,he was always far into a flare before we saw any signs of the rash - with each flare, the rash would be worse, and last longer. Robbie's rashes are very migratory - and usually come and go quickly - depending on the level of meds in his system at the time, I think - the flare in april was the worse ever - covering most of his body, even his face. He was quite miserable. So, he has never to my knowledge ever had the rash without already having significant symptoms. I do, however remember a couple of times, over a year before he was diagnosed, when he had an unexplained rash (that was gone before the doc saw him) with fever - I have often wondered. They found no physical symptoms that required any workup - so they would say it must be viral (which it certainly could have been) and sent us home. I hope that Caitlin is feeling better soon - and that you have answers - of course I am so far behind in my email again - you may already have word.
