Question about Mannitech (or is it Mannatech)

Hi Everyone,

My son, Dylan, has pauci JRA. He's 6 and has had it for 3 years in his left

knee. Someone recommended that I look into a non-pharmaceutical product called

Mannitech or Mannatech. I'm not sure how to spell it. I checked their website,

but it doesn't mention arthritis in particular.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this, and if so, what are your

thoughts?

Thanks,

Carolyn - Mom to Dylan (6, pauci)

Hi Spirit! Its Donna again. I wanted to speak to the issue of children. I

have had 2 children (now ages 13 and 9, both boys) and neither have JRA. My

youngest does have asthma. I personally believe children are worth the risks

involved and mine have proven to me over and over that I am so glad to have been

blessed by having them in my lives. Yes, even at 13 and 9 when I spend most days

refereeing or counseling my love stricken 13 yr old. There are several women I

know with JRA who have succesfully given birth and are tremendous moms and

their children are also JRA free. If you ever wish to chat just drop me a

line...Donna

I have not given this to my daugther but I can share a personal experience. When

my youngest was born I had all kinds of complications and one of them was

chronic kidney infections where I had raging fevers, bleeding etc. I was taking

multiple antibiotics without much success. My nephrologist (sp?) recommended the

Mannitech (sp?) products as a supplement. He told me they were not covered by

prescription because they were supplements but he recommended them. At first I

was quite reluctant and was totally into mainstream medicine. But after repeated

tests, therapies I was just getting sicker and sicker by the day. I finally

decided to give it a try. I can't remember all that I took but I figured I would

buy a months worth and see what happened. he also recommended a special diet (I

can't remember the name) but could not stick with it. It just wasn't me. So

anyways I took the supplements for a month, perhaps two and I have never had one

kidney or bladder infection since. It was a life

saver for me.

I have mentioned it to my daughter but at this time she isn't interested in one

more pill or supplement drink.
