Guest guest
Sorry to hear about Carolines missed dose. Thank goodness Pred seems to work just as quickly as it doesnt work. I wouldnt beat yourself up over the missed dose. I missed Nicks 1/2mg of pred last night too.. Hes doing fine so im thinking of skipping it today and just be done with the PM dose. its not the 1st time ive missed medications... last summer Nick missed 3 days of his naprosyn, at that time he was doing well and i didnt think it would matter much (He ended up going to a friends for a few days) By the time he came home his fevers were back again. Thankfully at that time an increase of his naprosyn dose and a short course of prednisone fixed it. But i did feel like a uncaring mother trying to explain to the rheumy why he missed some doses. Hope caroline is feeling better tonight.. Hugs Helen and (6,systemic) P.s dont lose hope, you still might be able to taper once you see the rheumy. Im still hoping for a great appt for her. Guest guest
Thanks Helen. Everyone's words of encouragement have been very helpful. By late Sunday/Monday she was back to her normal happy (cranky) two year old self! Yesterday she refused to nap (she normally sleeps 3+ hours a day) and took forever to fall asleep. Ugh! FREE BABY FOR SALE!!, FREE BABY FOR SALE! LOL!! I'm hoping for a good rhuemy appt too! Thanks again! Alia and Caroline, age 2, pauci and uveitis > Sorry to hear about Carolines missed dose. Guest guest
Hi Alia- I haven't posted in awhile. With the craziness of life, I am having such a hard time keeping up with posts. I read them in very interrupted spurts and then mean to reply to many but by the time I get to, I am behind again. Anyways, about sleep-Genevive used to be my big napper. It was great. Since she has been diagnosed with JRA and on meds, her amount of needed sleep has gone way down. (Which is obvious to anyone who sees her mother's baggy eyes and the big cup of coffee sitting on the mousepad, as well as a very messy house! lol) I have been attributing it to two things. #1 Perhaps she has joint pain that is keeping her awake. (Hard to tell as she doesn't talk much yet plus as long as I get up during the night and hold her, she seems fine--the "pain" magically disappers!) and #2, which I beleive is very likely. Before she was on the meds., her body was working overtime trying to reduce swelling etc. Whenever they have a condition with swelling, etc. there bodies burn more calories as they are working harder, making them need more sleep. This also causes them to lose weight or at least not gain weight. Once she started the meds., they began doing a lot of that work so she didn't need to sleep as much. Perhaps Caroline has finally caught some energy now that the drugs are taking effect that was missing before. Genevieve has also just gained her first 1/2 pound in 6 months. (I had been freaking that an 18 month old hadn't gained anything in between check ups. At this age they usually gain lbs. in between.) Just my very unscientific theory! Guest guest
Therese. Thanks for sharing. You are probably correct. I just miss the days when she slept... Oh - the things I could get done!
