I second that!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!!!!!! Thanks Goodness - we just got bad news

yesterday at Shriner's Hospital in Springfield that Will needs another

injection in his ankle....the subtalar joint-which is a really hard joint to

inject,

and is not promising great results, but worth a try.......But we did not want

to do it til Aristospan was back, cause his injection in Feb with kenalog did

nothing......I can't believe that today we find it is......I called the old

Pharm Co....and got the info and immediately called our Dr. at

Shriner's.........now tonight I see it on our support group- WOW news travels

fast......I hope

this will help everyone who needs it........good luck to all!

Our rheumy's office called today. Another pharmaceutical co. is now in production of this drug. It is out there, already being produced and due to "hit the shelves" next week!!! !!!! We are going to try this knee injection first before mtx and hope it will help the knee and the eyes will continue to improve only with the drop. At least it buys Genevieve at least a little time. Anyone waiting on this injection med. should ask their dr. if they are getting it soon.

embrel/mtx

Genevieve had her rheumy and opthomology appt. yesterday. Her knee remains the exact same-kinda stuck in between a 90 degree angle and flexed in. They will be making her a night splint on Thursday. Since we are STILL on the waiting list for aristospan (not currently being manufactured) for a knee injection, we have some options. (She is still on max. naproxen doses) One is embrel. The other is Mtx. The doc wanted to wait until after our eye appt. because that could decide which way to go. Mtx would help with both. The eye dr, said all cells are gone in the eyes :-), however they are both stuck together. The right always has been. It only dilates a little bit. This is new in the left eye. Soooo, they consulted while I was there and beleive mtx is the way to go. Neither of them was ready to take that position independently of one another which leads me to wonder if I have still have an option of embrel and the pred forte drops, which have been working. I am having a really hard tim

e with this. I know she will need to be caught up with immunizations before mtx. After her first round, she had developed a fever for a few days and then a full body rash for a few days, so I was holding off on any future immunizations at least for awhile (Another of my children had had a funky immunization reaction as well. I hate doing them!! In Genna, I still wonder if that is what triggered the JRA, although all the drs. say it did not). None of my other children have had chicken pox vaccines, so it means taking all 6 in for the shots, etc. The whole thing is a really big deal. Plus, if you could see her, she is soooo well. She is a happy, happier than most, content, spunky 18 month old. You can not tell that she has anything wrong with her except she squints in the sunlight and can not walk yet. There are so many side effects to the meds. that I am struggling with the fact that we are going to make her feel miserable, more miserable than the disease does, from the meds. It is li

ke we have to make her worse to make her better. Any advice???? I think the biggest problem I am having is a little bit of denial and don't want to deal with this hard core treatment. She just seems so healthy otherwise. I keep thinking it will go away. I wish it would just go away for all of these kids! It is sooo unfair!!!! I would take it away from her in a minute, if I could.

Hi ,

I hope the Aristopan works it's magic. had his ankle done twice with Depo Medrol without the results we had hoped for.Our rheumy told us the same thing. The ankle joint is very complex and hard to do but our ortho at Vanderbilt, who is very well renowned said it was a piece of cake.Hah,the second time around,1 month from the first got put in a hard cast for 2 weeks and an orthopedic boot that he was weaned off of over the cource of a month. We were told that it's not the weight that hurts the results but the joint movement. He got to participate in gym class and everything, even in the cast.

Good luck.

Good luck with the ankle injection. I can beleive it is a very complicated joint. I pray he'll get through it and see some relief with out problem. I was so impressed and excited with our rheumy calling us the day it is back on the market. :-) I feel a great weight and worry off my shoulders. I'm sure you do too.

Take Care.
