Guest guest
, Welcome to the list. I’m just sorry that you have reason to join us here. You’ll here a lot of different things about diet, etc with JRA. The bottom line, though, is that there is no scientific evidence that cutting out certain foods is going to help. Some people, however, do swear by dietary changes. We’ve not done anything with ’s diet other than encourage healthy eating while still allowing limited amounts of “junk food”. I’m sure that you’ll get feedback from someone who has been very strict about what their child does and does not eat. Liz JRA & Diet..New to list Hi, my name is and my son has just been dianoised with JRA. I have heard from a few people to avoid Wheat, tomatoes & potatoes. Have any of you seen or heard of this? Is there a list of foods to avoid?
Guest guest
Hi , You will hear all kinds of things and be given all kinds of things.Take it all in stride but JRA, no matter what sub type ,is an auto immune disease and serious and needs to be treated by a pediatric rheumatologist.Good nutrition is important but will not influance the outcome of the disease. People mean well but still see arthritis as something their grandma or grandpa had and could tell when it was going to rain. Some aches and pains, no big deal.JRA is a big deal,if only for a short time. Please listen to s doctor and EDUCATE yourself. This list is a great place.New members shock their rheumies almost immediately on their knowledge. Ask any questions you want. That is what we are all here for.Sorry about the circumstances though.Another one of Gods angels have been diagnosed with JRA. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the list and I hope you benefit from us and vice versa. As far as food goes, to my knowledge, no study has proven anything relating to diet and most rheumy experts and scientists agree that diet is not formally related to any rheum. disease. I will offer you this... a friend of mine where we used to live was very naturopathic and holistic about things. (If I was still in close touch with her, I'd get you the name of the book, but I'm not). She once told me about a book that she read that correlated blood type to diets native to various regions of the world. The basis was that your blood type can be traced back to the region of the world that your very very distant ancestors were once native to. So, blood type " X " should follow a mediterranean type of diet, type " Y " should follow northern european diets, etc. etc. for all regions of the world. It had to do with how blood type " X " may metobolize and be more efficient with certain types of food found naturally in those parts of the world. It might be worth a read to you if you are exploring the diet angle. Stacia and Hunter,7,systemic,iritis
