I couldn't find the original thread from a few weeks ago, but I

wanted to mention that I saw at my local Walgreens over the weekend,

near the diabetic supplies, a sharps container for needle disposal.

It was not expensive, if I remember right around $3. Thought I would

pass along the info, in case anyone is interested. Michele

Hi ,

I bring it to our local fire station. They take the sharps containers. But

you should call yours first. You may have a board of health nurse in your

town who would know where to dispose of sharps containers. I think she is

the one who coordinates it in our town. Your local pharmacy might know, or

if there¹s a hospital in your area, they might have an idea. Especially the

diabetes center or some program where lots of needles are used by patients.

Good luck. , and Ezra, systemic, 10

Call your local hospital to see if they will take your sharps.

For diabetics, they have like a needle clip I believe. I was out to

dinner one day and watch this woman inject herself. She took the needle

and snapped it off with a gadget that looked like a toenail clipper.

So, the the needle stayed in the clipper part, and the syringe part was

thrown in the trash can. It would really save the space. Anyway, we

filled a sharps container, but our Dr. said to get an old bleach bottle,

or that type of container and just fill that with our used syringes. So

we use that to hold our needles, and it takes a lot longer to fill it

up, and then we don't need to dispose of it yet. (Sorry I don't know

exactly what to do with that when it get full!)

For those of you that do injections at home, where do you dispose of

your sharps containers? I had such a problem finding someone to take

the first one...every place I call just says they don't accept them.

We have another that will be full next month, and I was just wondering

what ya'll did.

Thanks!!

Thanks guys! I'll call the hazardous waste dept today and look into the taking

them to the doctors office as well. I was getting so frustrated b/c no one

seemed to want to take it or know of anyone who would, I asked the pharmacy, the

hospitals, the medical supply store, no one seemed to know! Guess I should've

just asked you guys first! lol Thanks again!!
