Jann, welcome.

The Epsom salts serve to relax the bile ducts and allow the stones to

slip through them with less pain. They also help to clean out your

digestive tract so that it's easier to see (and collect) the gall-

stones should you want to.

It is possible to do the cleanses without the Epsom salts. Applying

heat to your gall-bladder region with a hot pad, or some of those

adhesive heating pads the sell for back or menstrual pain will also

help to relax the bile ducts. Valerian is a good herbal relaxant, and

could be very useful to you at this time, you might want to take a

capsule with every meal and just before bed for 24-36 hours prior to

doing your cleanse.

Lots of things other than Epsom salts serve to clean out the

digestive tract and I'm sure you can think of something that works

well for you. You might also try an enema or two to help this and you

could do a cleanse that involves a raw-fruit-and-vegetable diet for

the 24 hours leading up to the cleanse and lots of apple juice.

Read through LOTS of cleanse recipes and see what has helped others.

You could look through the group archives as well and see how malic

acid helps people and well as the value of Flax Seed Oil, Lecithin,

and Milk Thistle.

I hope this helps you, Jann. This group has proved to be very

valuable for my family and myself and I am glad to be able to help

any new member here.

Hi Jann, Welcome to the list. I'm so sorry that you have this

problem and are facing such an urgent decision. There have been a

lot of people come and go on this list who insisted that since

doctors don't believe gall stones can be formed in the liver, that

they must not be. I wish they could read your first hand account,

but be that as it may... You need help now. The quick fix has

already been described very well in the previous response to your

post - a flush. I want to describe a way to prevent this and other

health problems in the future.

Learning what makes your body healthy or unhealthy in the long run

is the way to start taking charge of your health. Then, putting

changes into your eating and living routine is a life long process.

Change things one at a time, or two or three manageble changes that

you can sustain. This will allow you to form new habits at a rate

that will allow success. If you try to change everything overnight,

you may not succeed before you get discouraged and frustrated and go

back to the habits that have made you unhealthy :)

Sorry Jann. Alan means well, but obviously he didn't read that you

can't take Epsom salts. There is a lot of valuable information in Dr.

's books and on CureZone.com as well as the archives of this

group. The other cleanses are really important too, but when you are

in acute pain it's probably best to do flush out your liver and ducts

and then get to work on the others when you've gotten rid of some of

the pain. Sounds like you have a great resource in your Tai Chi

instructor, I hope you can incorporate what he advises with what you

find here.
