Hi Guys,

I know this is not really JRA related, but it concerns Nicks health

and i wanted to run something by you all in case you have come

across this.

On Saturday we were at a family members house for Christmas. We have

visited this house before, but not spent soo much time indoors.

After being there for 6 hours, Nick comes up to me and says his eyes

hurt.. within a matter of minutes, his eyes and lips started to

swell, his whole face swelled, but his eyes and lips were the worse.

I would say his lips were 3x their normal size and his eyes were

nearly swollen shut. After talking to the nurseline we gave him

benadryl ( after driving all over the boonies to find some at 9.30

at night, we were an hour north of our place out in the country) and

he did better, although his eyes didnt completely go down till 24

hours later.

We have no idea what could have caused this allergic reaction...we

stopped his amoxacillin ( started on wed for strep) he was around

smoke and cats ( done this before with no problem) and only new food

eaten that we could work out was caraway seeds in some bread.

My question is that since your kids were dx with JRA do they seem to

get some weird stuff going on???? I really dont know whats going on

with poor Nick but it seems like one thing after another.. hes

really not looking his normal self, i cant put my finger on it, but

hes just not " right " if that makes sense!

just wondering what you all think???

Hugs helen and (6, systemic)
