Guest guest
Hello All: Caitlin is on Prednisone, Cefzil, Plaquenil and Methotrexate. We usually wait a half hour in-between each med (except the MTX which is only once a week on Fridays in the afternoon). So if we start at 7 am she has all her meds by 8. No doctor has told me to wait in-between each med, I just thought it would give each one a chance to get in there before the next one. Is there any problem with giving these meds at the same time? Do you all give your children's meds together or do you wait in-between for any amount of time? Thank you. Take care. Patty
Guest guest
Hi Patty, Whatever works for Caitlin is ok.The only thing to watch out for. The pred and NSAID's should be taken with food and some antibiotics you are supposed to take on an empty stomache. She usually takes the meds with milk and/or food. The Cefzil she usually takes with plain water. I am just thrilled she takes them with ease. She just learned to swallow pills and sometimes, even when broken in half, has a hard time getting the Plaquenil down. I haven't been able to convince her yet to try it whole, thinking it might be easier instead of having open ends that start to 'melt' in her mouth quickly and cause the 'icky' taste. She'll get there:) Take care. Patty
Guest guest
Hi, My son likes to take all of his at once. He empties them from our compartmentalized pill organizer, which I re-fill weekly, into his hand and has them in one big swallow followed by juice. When he was younger, it was one pill at a time ... a very slow and tedious process when he was taking so many each morning. He went away for a weekend JRA Camp one summer and saw a boy, a little bit older than him, quickly gulp down a handful of pills. It really made an impression on him and since then, he's done the same thing. He takes his morning meds with breakfast, evening meds right after dinner. His growth hormone injection between 7 and 9pm. Take Care, Georgina Emeraldsx3@... wrote: > Hello All: > > Caitlin is on Prednisone, Cefzil, Plaquenil and Methotrexate. Guest guest
Wow, I know I couldn't swallow to many pills at once. The rheumy, today, said she could take them all at the same time (one at a time though) in the morning. This will make it easier:) Take care.
