It was a great appointment. She said that my joints were looking great, aside from my knee that has some fluid in it. But hey one joint that isn't looking good is quite awesome to me! She said that she is thinking the Enbrel is working and we can continue on it. And I got some answers to questions I had. About a month ago I noticed some swelling in my upper right quadrant of my abdomen.. we had no clue what it was. I went to my GI doctor and he took x-rays and no masses or anything was seen.. but there was obvious inflamation in that area. About two to three times bigger then the rest of my abdomen. He had no clue what it was so he said keep an eye on it.. and come back in a month. So I have an appointment on the 30th of Jan. So I had my rheumi look at it today since we were there and see what she might think it is.. and it turns out.. its nothing GI related nope its a broken rib! So random. She said that it most likely happened when I was throwing up.. and that every time I throw up it aggravates it. I have GERD and it makes me throw up on occassion. So basically I need to not throw up for a few months in order to allow my rib to heal.. But yeah it was an awesome appoint. Sorry to ramble.. Guest guest
I felt a little bit of pain but really minimum it was the swelling that was concerning. My doctor was surprised it didnt hurt more.. Maybe I'm just use to being in pain. Who knows (poly jra and spondy 19)
Guest guest
Hi , Ouch! Are you saying that you didn't feel the pain of the broken rib but only noticed the associated swelling?!? Wow! Your pain tolerance level must be really high. I hope that will heal soon. I broke a rib once while playing volleyball, in college. It really hurt! I'm glad the rest of your appointment went well and that Enbrel seems to be working for you. Enjoy the holidays, Georgina bncknwurnumber@... wrote: > Well I went to my rheumi today.. Guest guest
Hi , I guess that must be it. After living with arthritis for a while I guess something like a broken bone just doesn't seem quite so bad as it does for those of us who don't have that kind of long-term, recurring, pain. When broke his finger he acted so non-chalant about it that I really thought it must not have been broken. I was very surprised when the xrays showed a fracture. There was a boy in the waiting room with us, who came in with his Dad, and he was holding his hand and crying about the pain he was in. He was about the same age as Josh, on the football team. While he was at practice he thought he broke his finger. Turned out, though, that his wasn't broken. It was sprained. When he heard that 's WAS broken, he was amazed that he wasn't even complaining about it.
