Guest guest
HI EVERYONE, WE WENT TO SEE PEDI RHEUMY TODAY TO TALK ABOUT OUR APPT.WITH PEDI ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON..HE SAID THAT THE ORTHOPEDIC DR, SAID RYANS HIP WAS SHOT, REALLY BAD ARTHRITIS, AND THAT THE HIP WAS DISLOCATED FROM THE SOCKET. AND THAT THE ENBREL IS NOT GOING TO CORRECT THAT..WE ARE GOING FOR A CAT SCAN TOMORROW MORNING THEN TUESDAY MEET WITH PEDI RHEUMY AND ORTHOPEDIC DR. TOGETHER. THE ORTHO DR HAS NEVER DONE HIP SURGERY ON A CHILD..AND THIS LOOKS LIKE OUR ONLY OPTION ..ITS THE ONLY WAY TO HELP WITH RYANS PAIN..SUPPOSEDLY A HIP REPLACEMENT WOULD RELIEVE HIM OF THE PAIN..THEY REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO THIS ON RYAN BECAUSE HE IS SO YOUNG (12). BUT WE WILL HAVE TO WEIGH OUT THE PROS AND CONS..HE SAID MOST LIKELY WE WOULD END UP GOING TO BOSTON CHILDRENS HOSPITAL WHERE THEY HAVE DONE THIS PROCEDURE ON CHILDREN.WE HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER HIP TOO AS THE OTHER HIP HAS ARTHRITIS AND WE ARE HOPING THE ENBREL WILL WARD OFF ANY MORE DAMANGE IN THAT HIP.RYAN IS STARTING TO ACCEPT ALL THIS, AT FIRST HE WAS ANGRY AND WOULDN'T TALK ABOUT IT, BUT NOW HE IS STARTING TO ACCEPT THE IDEA OF SURGERY. HE HAS BEEN LIVING WITH PAIN FOR SO LONG THAT HE HAS BUILT UP A HIGH PAIN THRESHOLD, HE LOOKS FOWARD TO HIS SHOTS, AND ALWAYS REMINDS ME TO GIVE THEM, HE REALLY WANTS TO FEEL BETTER AND LIVE A LIFE LIKE A NORMAL KID.AS FAR KNOW THE ONLY ONE ON THE GROUP TO HAVE A HIP[ REPLACEMENT IS AARON..ANY OTHER CHILD OUT THERE HAD ONE ??? THANKS SO MUCH FOR LISTENING.. jANE ( systemic age 12 )

Guest guest
Jane, This must be so overwhelming for ... for your entire family! It sounds like he's reached a level of acceptance though. I was so excited when finally got off the prednisone and when he appeared to be doing so well for that long period, compared to when he first got sick. This disease can be so sneaky and sometimes even when things are looking just fine on the outside it's still at work on the inside causing all kinds of unseen trouble. Boston Children's has a very good reputation, from what I've heard. I hope they'll be able to provide you with all the information you'll need to answer any questions you may have, prior to committing to the surgery. Gentle Hugs, for you and , Georgina Jitz45@... wrote: > HI EVERYONE, WE WENT TO SEE PEDI RHEUMY TODAY TO TALK ABOUT OUR > APPT.WITH PEDI ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON..HE SAID THAT THE ORTHOPEDIC DR, SAID > RYANS HIP WAS SHOT, REALLY BAD ARTHRITIS, AND THAT THE HIP WAS > DISLOCATED FROM THE SOCKET.
