Guest guest
Sherry, Have you ever given Casey Emetrol for the vomitting? It is supposed to stop it and my aunt and cousin have been using it for many many years. It comes in a cherry flavor and a lemon flavor I think, but I would rather take the cherry one. Maybe you can try this before taking her to the ER. ~
Guest guest
Yup, Lansing, MI, right on the edge of the downtown area Dr. D is in Howell. The SD (and right now, Casey, is in Novi.) There are a couple of ped. rheumatologists in Lansing at least according to the www... I called Dr. D when she started this flare because he's the one who treated her before her remission 6 years ago - well, for the last year before remission anyway - and I always thought he was brilliant. Haven't had any phone calls since 6:00, so hopefully she has fallen asleep...I hope so... Thanks VERY much for writing back so quickly, , I really appreciate it . Guest guest
Sherry, We've never had this situation come up. Josh, at worst, would feel nauseous after receiving his MTX dose but it never caused vomiting. I hope Casey is feeling lots better by now. Hard to know, I guess, if it was definitely related to the MTX. However unlikely, maybe it could have been a stomach virus or something else going on? If I were you, I think I definitely would have phoned the doctor. To report the symptoms, see if they had any special instructions. When you can, please let us know what happened okay? Gentle hugs for Casey ... Take Care, Georgina ChiaOwl wrote: >Friday was Casey's 2nd MTX injection, she got 20 mg (0.8 ml). Guest guest
Hi there! My daughter vomited from the mtx. She is on it orally though. We now give her Prilosec for her tummy and it seems to work great. I think that if the mtx was bothering Casey, she wouldn't throw up that much all at one time. When e got sick, she did it in intervals. She may throw up on Sunday morning, and then not again until Monday night. Also, when you inject the mtx, it doesn't pass through the digestive system, so the chances of it upsetting her stomach as an injectable are less. I hope this helps. Let us know what you find out. Guest guest
Barb, Intresting my son was on MTX once he recieved the shot one time in Jan and soon after became very ill with the vomiting and fever , joint pain, stomache, fatigued his rheumy whom I called put it off as being a viral infection? which is possible but (everytime)?? almost exact same symptoms soemtimes I wonder if I should be getting a 2nd opinion or have see another peds rheumy? It takes soo long to get into see one .His rheumy on his next visit said he would not need anymore mtx shots ? I will ask her when he goes to see her next Mon June 16th. Its weird you have so many things ya want to know and ask when ya go in its a good idea to write the questions down Im forgetful sometimes that is what comes with being or getting old I guessLOL Teena, 13 jra
Guest guest
I'm wondering also, it is what I first suspected, but that could be the timing too, starting the next day after her shot the evening before. I will see what Dr. D says about it as well. Thanks, Barb . Guest guest
You right. From what I know on anticancer agents/chemo (ie methotrexate) that the toxicity in it which helps to destroy fast growing cells like the cells that attack our joints.. also go for the cells in the belly. I think because the ones which divide quickest get attacked quickest.. So it causes nausea.. I'm probably wrong though. Guest guest
Hi. I just wounder, the kids that get mtx for cancer get it through an IV. The still through up even though it doesn't go through the stomach. I thought throughing up from Mtx was the bodys way of reacting to a drug that is a toxic to the body which Mtx is. The reason they give it to Jra kids is to slow down the deviding if the cells in the membran that holds the liquid in the joints. The sideeffect that made me choose not to give it is the fact that it effects all the cells in the body and even the DNA. But I thought the vomotting could occur no matter how you administer the drug. Am I wrong? mum to Jackie 6 syst.poly. >From: "Todd Lange" >Reply- > >Subject: RE: question about MTX and vomiting >Date: Sun, 8 Jun 2003 16:33:26 -0500 > >Hi there! > >My daughter vomited from the mtx.
