I received my order of malic acid today, and discovered to my horror that it contained silicon dioxide. When I ordered it, it did not list this as an additional ingredient, therefore I ordered it.

I have found that malic acid is very hard to come by and I am wondering if the silicone dioxide present as a filler/preservative is not worth the worry. Is it an insignificant amt that won't affect my body, or should I return it to the place I ordered it from?

I just hate the thought of putting silicon into my body, no matter how small the amt, but it just seems that it is in everything!! So do any of you take any supplements which contain silica or silicon dioxide?

Please let me know so I know whether I should return to sender, and order from another company. And does anyone know of a company that markets malic acid without the silica or silicon dioxide?

Thanks,

e

I have not found that silica and silicon dioxide in small amounts as fillers have had an adverse effect on the patients on the silicone immune protocol. Kolb M.D.

The one i am taking now has the silicon in it too, I don't know, I

think that it is different taking tiny amounts in a pill aren't going

to be a burden on your immune system the way to large foreign objects

in side it day in and day out are, but if you feel strongly about it

return it. I am still looking for one that doesn't have it, but can't

find one yet, if you do let us know

Nature's Life Malic Acid, 800 mg, and it was $6.36 for 100 caps.

Can't remember where I got it though, but it was here locally.

There is a company out there who puts out malic acid without silicon dioxide or silica. It is a company called ProHealth, and their website is www.immunesupport.com. They have several different brands of malic acid, but they all contain the above except for their own brand (ProHealth). It is a small dose of malic acid, (250mg), but the instructions are to take 4 capsules daily. This is the same company I ordered my MSM from, and they are very good, and their prices are reasonable.

Martha,

This company seems very good, and what I really like about them is the fact that their supplements are geared for people who have CFIDS/FM. The malic acid I spoke of is $14.49 for 120 tablets, or buy 2 for $19.98. I called the company Fri to verify with them that their brand (ProHealth) didn't contain silica or silicon dioxide. There is another brand they advertise which is stronger, but it does contain silicon dioxide.

If you (or anyone) wants their toll free # to get a catalog it is 1-800-366-6056, and their website is www.immunesupport.com. I have to give the credit to a woman named in MD who told me about it. THANKS NANCY!!!

Patty: The magnesium is an important treatment for fibromyalgia as up to 97% of patients have a defiency. I know I cannot delete my Super malic supplement without paying for it in pain. .

Hi ,

No, Nature's Life brand Malic Acid does not include magnesium in the malic acid as a supplement, only as magnesium stearate, the filler.

I have never had pain to the extent that others have described. When I first got implants, I remember how awful my legs ached for about 2 weeks, but it went away and never came back. I do not believe that I have fibromyalgia, but I do take magnesium supplements on occasion.

Hi e,

Thanks so much for this information -- any place has to be less expensive than the pharmacist I get it from!

Thanks for sharing this . Any of you ladies experiencing pain should really get on the magnesium and malic acid and see if it helps you.

Any chance that you will be getting your implants removed in the near future?

I really do consider myself lucky that I have not experienced the pain that others have. But the point is well taken, and I will make sure that I stay up on my magnesium supplements.

I have taken a break from all my pills. Today is my third day fasting, and I am not sure how long I will go.

But I feel good! (Dadadadah) (Patty dances)

Thanks!
