Hi Becki,

I think you're definitely making the very best choice here. That's a truly wonderful and generous idea, about donating it to an organization that can pass it along to another child who will be able to use it. And I hope that little has already faced the very worst of what Arthur could manage and that from here on out, things will remain stable but, especially since it'll be quite some time before he reaches the upper weight limits, hang on to that stroller for a while longer. Just in case.

Take Care,

Georgina

Hi Tree, so happy to hear Arthur is leaving you alone and your new scooter is collecting dust. When flared before school started and he started getting his ankle worked on by the ortho we bought him a Pogon Buggy medical stroller. It's been used twice and is just sitting there as a reminder of the bad ole days, collecting dust bunnies. We have thought about donating it to a local place for special needs children thats not for profit, but with Arthur being so sneaky I think I will hold onto it for a while or until reaches 100 lbs.Hopefully it will be a long, long time before we need it again. Let your nephew take the scooter for a spin or two, like you said you don't need the thing getting all stiff on you, loll.Have a good one!! Hugs Becki and 4systemic

Georgina,

the biggest thing I have learned when facing JRA is that Arthur is a very mean ,manipulative, sneaky little devil that can strike without warning. If you are wondering why I always refer to the arthritis as Arthur is my aunt who has RA told me to never say s arthritis, that the two need to be seperate. may have Arthur but he is not Arthur. You get the idea.I am just so grateful for finding the JRA list.It was a childs dad that worked for some sort of medical supply company that recommended the product. It is nothing fancy, but it is safe and holds up to 100 lbs and was reasonable compared to what a more serious disabled child would need. Some of the medical assistive strllers cost $4000 we paid $312 tax and shipping free through the internet, for a product that may only be used from time to time.I realized what a good deal I really found when I went to this place Special Kids and noticed they had a couple of them in the hallway.s not off the steroids yet and not being up to date you don't know my insurance woe's.Private insurance has it's BIG drawback, every year they can raise the premium.Last year before Enbrel they raised it 64% it's up again April 1st.The most recent kitof Enbrel had a price tag of 714.99 I liked to hit the floor. It wound up only costing me $35.66,I had $10.66 left on my $100 deductable or it would have only cost me $25,but with a premium of only$226.19 a month it doesn't take a genious to figure out something bad is fixing to happenOh! by the way I receieved a letter today saying I no longer needed my Enbrel card, the shortage is so far over ,now all a person needs is a script and take it to the pharmacy to be filled like any other drug.My hubby promiced Dr.Lovell at Cincy childrens that if Enbrel helped we would follow through with the 3 yr safety study, two more 3 month visits to go and it's only twice a year.We can quit anytime but I read where your child may not get any direct benefit but children in the future may benefit in Arthritis Insight For Kids.I know I am rambling on but I want to also thank you for thr updates on Humira. Our Ped has a LPN that is post retirement and they wouldn't cover Enbrel, even though her rheumy wanted her on it.I was able to print your posts out and give them to her.Just wanted to let you know you impact lives thoiugh your hard work and dedication to more then just our list, you are giving us the ability to touch all those that are in our lives as well.

Loving hugs and prayers

Hi Becki,

I'm glad those research abstracts were useful to your friend. I hope she's able to wade through the insurance red-tape and have access to whatever medicine she needs. Let her know, too, that many of the drug companies have special patient assistance programs where un and under-insured people with medical need can get medications free or at very low cost. That might be another avenue worth looking into.

Take Care,

Georgina
