Guest guest
Hello Barbara...I had explant done on June 29 and I am healing fine. I was told on my pre-operative consultation that as long as I had drains in that I need to take the antibiotics. Took them for 8 days. Then they took out the drain tubes. I was told it would help me in case of infection. Hope this helps. Oh, is he going to do a capselectomy as well, remove the capsule?.... Guest guest
To be honest no it is not the usual. Most surgeries they are going to want to give you antibiotics, both in the IV and during the first few days after to cover you in case of infection. It is just standard practice and a safety measure ! I would def request he give you something, the most common one that I have been given after both my surgeries was keflex because it is a broad coverage antibiotic. It sure would suck to get the surgery and get it done right and then end up with some kind of nasty infection. Did you ask him why? Maybe he is going to give you IV ones and thinks that is enough. At any rate I would ask him if he can just give you a couple days worth for your peace of mind. He should not have a problem with that. good luck and congrats on the upcoming explant In , " barbsul2002 " <BARBY4271@A...> wrote: > I THINK I FOUND A P/S IN MASS. TO DO MY EXPLANT. Guest guest
I guess I forgot to ask you honey, did he say he would get all the capsule out, capsulectomy? Are your implants smooth saline or textured or gel or what? This makes a difference too esp in the legnth and difficulty of the procedure. Any how if this is your first consult and your 100% sure this is the guy, that is awesome, but to be safe I would ask the following questions, 1. how many explants without replacement has he done? 2. Does he have any photos or slides he can show you of his explant patients? 3. Does he have any explant patients that would be willing to talk to you about there experience. And if he is going to be doing a lift or not then you would probably want to ask him a few more questions regarding the type of ifts he does, you would want to avoid the full anchor lift, as it is pretty old fashioned and not used much anymore unless your extremely large and even then most women find they get awesome results with the vertical lift alone. I believe there are some pics in the photos section of Patty showing her anchor scars. THey have faded well but the problem with the anchor scar for most of us is that when our breasts are small without implants the anchor scar can ride up the breast where it can be seen and also we may not have enough tissue to hide it. If you go under the photos section there is a good picture of Tracey and (me) who were Feng patients who had her awesome vertical lift and you can hardly see our scars. FOr some reason the vertical ones just seem to fade better and I am not sure exactly why either. Also if you are getting explant and lift the chances of infection are even higher, because of more cutting involved so you would def need antibiotics. I would check into all these things before the surgery that way later on you won't have any regrets or feeling like I wish I would have asked this or done that. I hope you know I am only telling you these things because I want you to have a great outcome and not have any problems. Please let me know if there is anything esle I can possibly do ok honey? hugs In , " barbsul2002 " <BARBY4271@A...> wrote: > I THINK I FOUND A P/S IN MASS. TO DO MY EXPLANT. Guest guest
If you have him on GFCF I'm suprised he did well on Amoxicillin as that has casien in it. However, it is not a real " strong " antibiotic if there is a nasty infection. My son has always done well on Zythromax...it is a very broad spectrum antibiotic (which has its own pros and cons) but it is GFCF and once a day, for 5 days. I use probiotics (Culturelle) with it. I can't speak to Omnicef as my son hasn't taken it - daughter has, but she's NT. If you call the company and ask for a doctor in technical service they should be able to answer your questions, if not have your local doctor give you the name of the local rep and see if they can get some answers for you. HTH, Kim [ ] Antibiotic question is not doing well at all. His tubes fell out of his ears about two months ago, and he's been on a constant roller coaster ride with ruptured ear drums and infection. He just came off a round of Omnicef, and he's sick again.....sigh. His behavior has gotten a bit elevated. He is talking back a bit, and cranky. It seems to coincide with the antibiotic, etc. I called the company to confirm whether it has gluten or dairy in it, but they could not confirm a thing. I never had problems with if he took amoxicillin. In fact, when he would go on that one he'd improve greatly - behavior wise. Nothing else has changed, and I give Acidophillus twice a day while on the antibiotic, so I don't think it is a yeast issue. I swear there is a problem with this particular antibiotic.... However, he has been off of it for a week now, and usually he begins to improve about a week after. But.......he is getting another cold, so the cranky mood could be related to the new cold. He literally sneezes all the time, and has huge dark purple circles under his eyes. I have never seen this before, and it coincides with the tubes falling out and the constant illness. Anyway, I know they make an antibiotic that is ok on the GFCF diet, but I can't remember which one. has not needed antibiotics for over 3 years now. Does anyone know which one(s) are ok? I just think something is not right with this Omnicef. a ________________________________________________________________ Juno Gift Certificates Give the gift of Internet access this holiday season. Guest guest
Omnicef is a name brand - same as Ceftin. Grown on milk protein (casein). -GA [ ] Antibiotic question is not doing well at all. Guest guest
Hi a, I know this isn't what you asked, but I thought I would toss this out there, in case it is useful information. I don't really feel ready to publicize this site, which is just a few pages and was put together for a small group of friends. But I felt compelled to offer it to you, for whatever it is worth. Frequent ear infection used to be an issue in my household as well. But, one of my kids has not been on antibiotics in 6 1/2 years and the other has had antibiotics only once in that time. http://califmichele.com/health/earache.html HTH, Michele in California calif.michele@... webmaster@... Guest guest
I read it and I'll try some of this. I've had him on garlic and cranberry, but he still gets these darn ear infections. He didn't get them for a long period, and within the last two months after losing the tubes he's had constant ones. The biggest problem is that there is no warning. He's fine, does not complain, has no fever, and bam.....blood and pus drainage. He is quite the puzzle...... Thanks for the info!!! I do feel his grouchy behavior is directly related to that darn antibiotic, and now that I know it is grown on casein, he won't be getting it. I'll try the home remedies and hope for the best! a -- Michele <calif.michele@...> wrote: Hi a, I know this isn't what you asked, but I thought I would toss this out there, in case it is useful information. Guest guest
a, In my observation, when a person has repeated infections of the same type over and over, they usually really have an infection that has never been completely cured. The germs get knocked down to a low enough level so that they stop being symptomatic but they aren't actually gone. Sometimes, using alternative remedies consistently over a longer period of time can cure a problem that has been persistent. I know a woman who had recurrent urinary tract infections who took high doses of Cranberry and goldenseal for about 10 weeks. That was many years ago and her recurrent UTI's have never returned. The typical short course of antibiotics seems to not be very effective against recurrent infections. They treat acute conditions but don't seem to effectively treat chronic or recurrent conditions. Alternative remedies are not as strong as prescription antibiotics, so I find that I have to give them every 4 to 6 hours and keep at it for much longer than the typical 10 days to two weeks that you would use a prescription antibiotic. I also combine multiple home remedies to be as effective as possible. It can take months to REALLY cure a condition that has gone on a long time. But I do not believe you have to just accept that a child will keep getting the same infection coming back, over and over. Also, parasites like the ears, in part due to the cool temperature of the ears. If you suspect that parasites may be part of the problem (you can end up with parasites because of a chronic/recurrent infection), you can buy Tonic Water, which contains quinine, and use that to dilute the hydrogen peroxide to treat the ears topically. Good luck. Michele in California calif.michele@... webmaster@... Guest guest
Well we went to the ENT and he says it is not a another cold, it is an allergy. He thinks may have developed an allergy to food or something else, and the symptoms were previously masked, because he was on Allegra. So, we re-started the Allegra and now I need to have tested. a -- Michele <calif.michele@...> wrote: a, In my observation, when a person has repeated infections of the same type over and over, they usually really have an infection that has never been completely cured.
