I will direct your attention and anyone else whom are interested to read all the responses from " Ted from Bangkok " and Other Respondents to scroll down to " BORAX SIDE EFFECTS " in the link below. http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/borax.html#WARNINGS Borax while not to be confused with Boric acid is still problematic. You will notice, quickly, all sorts of complaints of external and internal issues from people with using Borax as a health remedy according to Ted's recommendation of 1/8 - 1/4 tsp of Borax per liter of water. However in conjunction , excessive calcium imbalance concerns are a constant. Even Ted from Bangkok from Thailand acknowledges this issue. Thus this seems a fine balancing act due to other unforeseen variables pending on each individual i.e diet and or supplements. Thus, unnecessary and not worth the risk! Therefore, I would have to agree with Nan, the Borax as a healthy remedy is inadvisable. Nan's submitted advice is recommended thus avoiding adding more possible imbalances or more health issues to people with already compromised health. Perhaps, Donna, you have been lucky, according to your personal experience and if you wish to pursue it that is your prerogative. However, in view of reviewing the source of your information you provided, I would say it is generally inadvisable. Since the possible associated calcium imbalances could cause a cascade of health complications. Furthermore Borax does not address the underlying health problem/s. Only correcting a deficient immune system is the cure via nutrients found in a diet as this & healthy lifestyle changes. The hair wash and antifungal alternatives, Nan has mentioned are safer alternatives that the general person can use without fear of unnecessary side effects as seen by Borax users. Thanks again.
