Guest guest
Hi Janice, I traveled down this same " mesh " road a couple of years ago with my 'Significant Other', Rodney. He had to have a surgery to pull all his upper & lower abdominal muscles back together, as a result of breaking his back a couple of years before this problem becoming evident. One of our best PSs in Dallas did his surgery. When we all discussed the use of a mesh, the PS was able to find only one that was not some form of silicone, teflon, or a combination thereof. He had to order the Vicryl Mesh especially for Rod's surgery. Vicryl mesh is made of the same material that dissolving stitches are made of, and when it finally disolves your body gets rid of it by natural processes of the body. I hope this is helpful, and I encourage you to discuss using the Vicryl mesh with Dr. Feng, and insist you be provided with the package inserts from any possibl other meshes she may suggest, so you will know how much safer Vicryl is compared to the other meshes available. Please stay in touch!
