Hi Neary!

Congratulations!!! I've been in your situation. I now have a wonderful healthy

2

year old boy being raised on dietary principles of Westin A. Price foundation.

Wish I would have been eating this well when pregnant...and wish that I hadn't

given into the push for ultrasounds. I can't tell you how much I worried about

it when I was pregnant with my son. It isn't needless worry either, since there

is some evidence that ultrasounds can be harmful. I feel that multiple (3)

ultrasounds early on in my first pregnancy might have led to a miscarriage.

Although, more often then not, everything turns out ok even with an ultrasound.

But who needs the worry?

Trust me, there are few OB's who will refuse to see you if you simply refuse the

ultrasound. They want your business, and in the end, it is your body and peace

of mind. There are other ways to prove that you are pregnant, and they are well

aware of this. If you feel strongly about it, then let them know this and stick

to your guns. I would be completely surprised if any of them refused to be your

OB. If they do, then you don't want to go with them anyway since they are

proving right from the start that they are not interested in following your

birthing plan. The best OB is one who wants to work with you. If they are

pushy

in the beginning, then they could be pushy at the end when you really need to

know that the suggestions that they are making have you and your baby's best

interests at heart. Like I said, I wish that I would have said NO. Peace of

mind

while pregnant is worth it's weight in gold.

Hope this helps. There are other great alternatives. In my case, (and sadly

after one " pushed-on-me " ultrasound in the beginning) I decided to go with a

midwife, and found a great OB willing to work with us. They are out there.

Wishing you a wonderful and joyous pregnancy!

Kris

Subject: [ ] First Pregnancy Ultrasound

Hi Bee,

Its Neary again. When I found out I was pregnant, I scheduled my first OB

confirmation appointment and my gynecologist office requires an ultrasound to

confirm pregnancy or else they would not be able to see me. Most of the other

offices requires the same as well. I know ultrasounds are harmful for me and

the baby...What should I do bee? Thank you.

+++Hi Neary,

Like someone else suggested get a midwife instead, since ultrasound has not been

proven to be safe for infants:
