Guest guest
That was really helpful Cecilia. Thanks so much... I'll call her and tell her what you told me. She lives in an area where it does not get cold and almost never freezes but I'll let her know about the bed bugs dying at 70 degrees celsius. I think the DE could be (is that kisel powder?) - I think so - could be the answer too.Hugs, From: "Cecilia Borg" <ceciliaborg@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 12:51:19 AMSubject: Bed bugs HI, !Great that you are trying to help! When we didn´t know what bug was harrasing us at first we also looked into bed bugs. They are out of their minds. My doctor here (private doctor), Dr. Metzger, referred someone to me to be a support system for her and her husband. She lives maybe 50+ miles away from me. She called last night and we spoke at length. She says she has scabies. She has seen Dr. Metzger just one time and she is originally from Canada, Montreal. Anyway, she has CFS, Fibro and Lyme disease, plus co-infections such as Bartonella and Babesia, apparently scabies AND bed bugs. The bed bugs are her biggest concern because she and her husband live in an apartment. Because she has all these disorders she is terrified that the chemicals might kill her from the spray. She also told me she has malaria-like symptoms (whatever that is, not sure). But she is very sick. The apartment complex is also making her pay for the cleaning and chemical spraying to the apartment of the bed bugs because they say none of the other apartments have the bugs, to the tune of nearly $1,000. She is on disability, although apparently with a Ph.D. in Social Work, but too sick to work. I didn't learn if her husband was able to work. If any of you have had experience with bed bugs (which she says she got she thinks from staying in a 1 star hotel in Montreal (poor quality), please let me know if any of you have experience with bed bugs so I can pass the information along to her. She says the scabies were awful for the first year or so, but now the biting is more or less not as bad. As far as I can tell, lots of her symptoms are just like ours with birdmites. I didn't ask her if the scabied were identified by a dermatologist.I'm going to reprint this message to the group with another title too. Guest guest
Thanks Krys for letting me know... She is Canadian and I don't know whether they use Celcius or Fahrenheit so I left a message for her - no one picked up. The oven would be good tool for certain things. She had said she has a lot of paperwork around because of her Ph.D. and research. I think having a house that is totally clean of clutter for this type of infestation is essential. She did say she had seen bed bugs come out of the papers! If she has scabies (she may not... it could be birdmites) the heat treatment would be good too. From: "Krys Brennand" <krys109uk@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 10:21:08 AMSubject: Re: Bed bugs Hi , I'm not really au fait with Fahrenheit so in case you're not au fait with Celcius. Guest guest
Thanks Alaire! This woman I spoke to, Marilyn, seems to think she has bed bugs AND scabies. From my understanding scabies are much easier to get rid of than birdmites and I think a lot of people are confused by the two. I know we did not have scabies, although we thought that at the beginning. We never thought we had bed bugs because we never saw anything like a bug in our bed. I hope she puts some of these suggestions to use... I called and left a message for her. Thanks for your kindness. From: "alaire" <alaire_fetters@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 11:21:29 AMSubject: Re: Bed bugs I also thought it was bed bugs at first, until i saw the black dot gliding across my sheets. I was very relieved at first, but they are a lot easier to get rid of. I put DE everywhere, especially all on my mattress. my home looked like a war zone for a few days. I vacuumed and wiped everything down with lysol(the hospital kind) I am sure the DE has helped with mites also. I also made a mixture of DE, boric acid, and flea powder to put in cracks and corners that i have not vacuumed up. My bug man also said the bed bugs take out hunks of skin when they bite. They thought for sure it was bed bugs, but i never saw blood or poop trails. And my bites fade away through out the day with benadryl. They are both nasty creatures. From what I hear DE is great. I see all kinds of dead insects where i put it. I live in the country so there is many kinds.wish you the bestFrom: Cecilia Borg <ceciliaborg@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 2:51 AMSubject: Bed bugs HI, !Great that you are trying to help! When we didn´t know what bug was harrasing us at first we also looked into bed bugs.
