Guest guest
Hi , I have tried water only washing, baking soda followed by an apple cider vinegar rinse, natural shampoos and conditioners from the health store, and have never really been satisfied with the results. I am going to give Ayurveda herbs a shot. Here is a link so that you can get more acquainted with them. The link has recipes that you can experiment with and explains what each herb is good for individually towards the bottom of the article. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article & articleid=3 Much love to you too, kelly ________________________________ From: juliahosman <juliahosman@...> Sent: Tue, August 31, 2010 1:34:42 PM Subject: [ ] Nourishing hair care product ideas  Hi Bee and others, Removing toxins in my life has included removing my beloved hair care conditioner and leave in treatment. These products made my naturally curly hair be silky and fall into healthy ringlettes. I now use a conditioner from Weleda and then add jojoba oil with glycerine into my dry naturally curly hair. I've also used coconut oil or coconut cream with disasterous results. My hair is ugly now. Anyone know of a haircare product that makes your hair soft, silky and bouncy? Much love, I now hate my hair. It looks so thin and oily.
Guest guest
Hi . We covered this topic a little while ago. Personally I use bicarbonate of Soda to wash my hair and Cider Vinegar to rinse it. The Vinegar restores the acidity to the hair and makes it lovely and soft and smooth. I usually rinse the vinegar off - as nice as it is I don't like smelling of it! I use just about a teaspoonful of Bicarb in a small amount of warm water and give it a stir. I wet my hair then pour the Bicarb solution over and massage it in. I then rinse my hair well and pour over the vinegar - about two or three teaspoonfuls diluted in half a cup of warm water. I just rub my hair to make sure it is blended, then give it a final quick rinse. It feels horrible until I add the vinegar water. I actually have a friend who doesn't wash her hair at all. She has ME and hasn't washed it for about 6 years. She does rinse it with warm water now and again to remove any dirt, but they do say that if you leave your hair long enough, it will take care of itself. I have never had the guts to try that one. I left mine once for about two weeks and it was driving me crazy. If you can get past that bit, eventually it seems to sort itself out. Guest guest
For several months now I've been washing with baking soda and apple cider vinegar. You may need to fool around with the measurements and frequency to get it right for your hair. 1 tbs baking soda + 1 c water rinse 1 tbs acv + 1 c water rinse The first couple of times I did this I left the baking soda in for a few minutes, this completely dried my hair out. I added more water to each mixture and rinse it out right away. Works like a charm. My hair stylist also recommended putting a touch of rosemary oil in my hair if it's frizzy. Really only one or two drops rubbed into my hands then rubbed into my hair. It works for me and makes my wavy hair curly. I wash between one and two times per week. -e > > Hi Bee and others, > > Removing toxins in my life has included removing my beloved hair care conditioner and leave in treatment. Guest guest
Hi, I use since over a year this Ayurvedic Shampoo. http://www.iherb.com/Auromere-Neem-Plus-5-Herbal-Shampoo-16-fl-oz-473ml/12526?at\ =0 And I used to switch all the time, because everything made my scalp itch. They also have an Aloe Vera version for oily hair. For Your curls I can recommend Aubrey's http://www.iherb.com/aubrey-organics-leave-in-liquid-conditioner-curl-activator-\ sea-buckthorn-4-fl-oz-118-ml/11433?at=0 I use it too, but have never checked the ingredients, the brand is trustworthy I think. Other members have advised you on what they use that is more natural. Bee
Guest guest
Hi , You might want to try amla and/or shikakai powder for your curls (particularly amla, though I like shikakai for how it makes my hair feel soft). I wash with baking soda and vinegar, but I use these herbs in my wash as well. I have wavy hair and in the past it used to get frizzy a lot, but using these powders, my waves are nice and defined and no frizz They're Indian herbs that can be found at East Indian shops or online. (Btw, I have a friend who uses amla for her curls and she really likes the results). Guest guest
Hi , turns out the curl activator I recommended contains Glycerin. http://www.iherb.com/aubrey-organics-leave-in-liquid-conditioner-curl-activator-\ sea-buckthorn-4-fl-oz-118-ml/11433?at=0 What about Aloe Vera Gel? I heard some women use it like a hair gel, have never tried it myself. looky here: http://www.iherb.com/Lily-of-the-Desert-Aloe-80-Organics-Aloe-Vera-Styling-Spray\ -8-fl-oz-236-ml/21264?at=0 Pia > > +++, do not use any products that contain glycerine since it draws moisture out of the skin or scalp, and it is a very sticky substance that adhers to hair, skin, teeth, etc. like glue. > > Other members have advised you on what they use that is more natural. > > Bee >
Guest guest
Hi You might find shikakai soap bars at an Indian grocery store if you have them nearby. I'm not sure if those bars would be totally 'safe' but lots of Indian women use this, at least they used to, and they have pretty awesome hair.
