Good morning,

I added nuts and seeds to my program a few months ago, which I am now

regretting. That is because I realized that even after nuts and seeds are

soaked and dried, there is another problem with them.

Nuts and seeds, like all carbs/plant foods have cell walls made out of fiber,

called cellulose, that our bodies cannot digest. All of the nutrients in

carb/plant foods are inside their cell walls, i.e. locked inside.

Therefore, in order to obtain their nutrients and also make them digestible,

cell walls must be broken down. There are only 2 ways to do that for all

carbs/plant foods:

1) Fermentation, i.e. like sauerkraut is fermented

2) Cooking them long enough

As far as I know nuts cannot be fermented, and if they could be, no one would

like eating them.

Cooking nuts also presents problems. Cooked nuts wouldn't appeal to most

people, unless they were added to foods like stew, chili, soup, etc. that are

cooked long enough, so the nuts cook at the same time. Even then nuts should be

crushed up or ground so they cook more easily.

Roasting or toasting them may not cook them long enough, depending upon the

hardness and size of the nut or seed. Sesame or celery seeds might cook long

enough when they are toasted since they are small. Almonds would have to be

finely sliced, but it is likely they will burn before they are cooked long

enough.

IF you consume nuts or seeds that aren't cooked well enough your large intestine

will be forced to ferment them by creating bacteria and yeast to break them

down. In other words, your large colon has to change into a fermentation

chamber, which is what causes digestive issues, i.e. gas, bloating, irritable

bowel syndrome, Crohn's, etc.

That's why I think nuts and seeds are NOT good for anyone even when they are

healthy.

So I am again removing them from my program.
