Guest guest
Hi Bee and group, You recommend baking soda for a lot of things. The main source of baking soda in most stores is Arm & Hammer. I heard that their baking soda has aluminum in it. It was suggested (by whom, I forgot) that for internal use an alternate brand (Red Mill?) be used. Arm & Hammer doesn't list aluminum in their ingredients. Which brands do you recommend? Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi Pam, Yeah i hear ya on the baking soda in bulk cause of its multi purposes. Im headin to Edmonton in a few days, maybe i will check out costco for a larger bag. Caine... > > Hi, Caine, that's good to know. I was wondering about that myself. If you have a membership to a warehouse store (or have a friend with such a membership), baking soda comes in larger quantities and is a great bargain. Guest guest
> How often do you have to drink this to stay alkaline & how much do you add to say 8 oz of water. I'll just butt in here to note that I had a bad reaction to drinking water with baking soda in it. After doing this for a couple weeks, I developed abdominal pains. I will also note that another very alkaline substance that I mix in water (Megahydrate powder) causes me abdominal bloating. The digestive tract really works best when it is acidic, so consuming lots of strongly-alkaline substances can mess up your digestion. I realize that there is a lot of material out there in the alternative health media that proclaims that " your body wants to be alkaline " , but anyone who says something like that doesn't seem to realize that this is a much more complicated subject than that. Various parts of your body each have their own optimal pH, and blindly trying to make your entire body more alkaline can make your health worse. When you are trying to digest food, the inside of your stomach needs to be acidic. That is why some people take Betaine HCL supplements to help their digestion. Also, the insides of your small intestines also need to be slightly acidic in order to properly assimilate minerals and support the good bacteria (note that acidophilus even has " acid " in it's name!). Also, your blood must be in a very narrow range of pH, so making that either to acidic or alkaline will kill you. So you see, this whole issue of alkaline vs. acidic is a bit more complicated than many make it out to be. Certainly drinking baking soda in water might be a good " quick fix " for cases where you are too acidic, but I wouldn't recommend that everyone do this longterm. Guest guest
First, this is just one part of a health protocal, that includes eating cleaner food (no pesticides), eating some raw veggies, drinking the cleanest water one can, ect. Second, as some are very sensitive, a suggestion is to start LOW...1/8 of a teaspoon in 5 -6 oz of filtered water...see how you feel. It may make you feel FULL and uncomfortable, usually it helps if you get the burp out, this can also happen when the body is highly acidic...IF the body is very acidic, low 6's, or lower...remember, it takes time. And there are many things that can lower the body's PH, processed foods are one, wireless radiation is another, and there are more. Even being around toxic people can lower the PH, and having a bad day, negative thinking is also said to be acidic. Do some tests of your own. Take your PH when you are in a happy mood..take your PH when you are having a rough mood day....Take you PH when you are doing something you love! Then gradually increase the dose, from 1/8 to `1/4 to a half of teaspoon...some can handle a half a teaspoon, I can handle a tablespoon, but I started low and built up. Of course you can use more water..8 oz if fine. I myself take this sometimes 3 times a day....before I eat...always before going to the stores....when I get back....and before bed. It's a good idea to use the PH testing strips so that you can tell what your PH is. And remember that some people feel their best not at 8, but at 7.25, or it could be 7.5...so experiment and find when you're feeling reallly good, take your PH! When you're feeling crappy....take your PH..this makes it much more customized to YOUR body. I've had friends who had the flu or a bad cold, and they told me (amazed) that the bAking Soda worked very fast and were amazed at how much better they felt. I think its because the flu really means a very low PH. Just my working theory. The flu is the body becoming way too acidic. Let me know what you find. You just might be amazed yourself, at how a simple and inexpensive thing like Baking Soda can help the body. Lizzie From: loni326@... Guest guest
I agree with you Marc; great points as usual! I , too, am using cell food silica formula and didn't realize that it was acidic. I'm very concerned about my teeth. eek  I don't have a gallbladder (out when I was 23) and use digestive enzymes with every meal.  I think I'll skip the baking soda. You can keep yourself from being too acidic with proper dieting. But then again I feel much better when I eat lean meats that are acidic. This gift from nature helps with low acid, is natural, is loaded with enzymes- and usually when low acid conditions in the stomach are there, it means there's not enough enyzmes. And I've had the exact opposite occur -- if I'm coming down (or have) a cold or flu, and I consume something highly alkaline (e.g. Megahydrate), my condition gets WORSE, not better. Meanwhile, if I take something highly acidic (e.g. Cellfood, Grapefruit Seed Extract), my condition gets BETTER. So your theory may work for some people, but not everybody... As for Apple Cider Vinegar, that *might* be a good option -- acidic in your digestive tract, and supposedly leaving behind an alkaline residue. The only problem is that Apple Cider Vinegar is known to suppress the thyroid, so you'll have to add thyroid support to that. In old-time folk medicine, they would mix together apple cider vinegar, honey, and a couple drops of Lugol's iodine. Marc

Or how do you know? Unfortunately, I experienced it first hand... being quite familiar with my own symptoms of hypothryoidism and when I need to take more thyroid support supplements. But, I also read it *somewhere*... it might have been in the book " Vermont Folk Medicine " by D.C. Jarvis, but doing a quick Google search I found the following page: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/thyroid.html Which includes this comment: " [WARNING!] 11/13/2007: Lana from Ormond, usa writes: " Ingesting ACV has long been used for medical treatment and is sometimes very effective.. HOWEVER, one should also take an iodine supplement, such as kelp tablets or kelp extracts while using this therapy. Extended ACV consumption can remove iodine from the body, and can result in thyroid problems. (Salt also causes the same problems which is why commercial salt has added iodine.) I learned all this back in the early 1970's, and have not found this important information on iodine/ACV interaction in any articles or books recently. However I have not covered your entire site. So in case no one has mentioned this yet, it really needs to be addressed. " This is followed by another comment from someone else who confirms this. Guest guest
ACV contains chromium which can alter insulin levels in Diabetics I was going to read this link, until I saw the above statement. In natural health, Chromium is often given to PREVENT DIABETES! Look people, either stick to mainstream medicine and risk never getting well.... because this is the same institution that DOESN'T TEACH ABOUT NUTRITION its the same institution that believes and pushes toxic things like Chemo therapy Its the same institution/mindset that blankets entire hospitals in wireless radiation Its the same mindset/institution that thinks injecting babies with toxic cocktail vaccines IS SAFE. Its the same institution/mindset that continues to be in the dark with regards to ES. Its the same institution/mindset that permanently installs mercury silver fillngs in the mouths of not just adults, but children as well. Yes, there are always 2 sides to every issue. Ask yourself this one very important question? Who's side are YOU ON? YOur side, that wants to get better? Or their side, that wants people to stay sick, so they can keep making money off of misery! When I (rarely) take sodium/potassium-bicarb (if I feel " too acid " ) in the early morning (or at night), and then go back to sleep, the increase in blood oxygen quickly wakes me up, with 'extra' energy, and I cannot go back to sleep, even if I want to. Guest guest
Lizzie i read allot of weird stuff here, " raw garlic has a PH of: 13+ " Absolutely not true & impossible, if Garlic would have a pH of 13 the skin from your lips will fall of when you eat it, pH of Garlic is about 7,3 ( close to body pH ) & if you alter the pH of a garlic concentrate in water to let say pH 8,0 it will lose its anti bacterial properties very quickly ( dasan.sejong.ac.kr/~kyungkh/dawnload/combined%20effect.doc ) Further you said : ( after talking about pH all the time): Beef is -34/ chicken is -18 to -22 on the acid scale. Fresh Cucumbers are: +31-- This for sure can't be pH values there is no + and - on the pH scale ( 0 to 14). Are you with this numbers referring to another scale then pH ? Is it a universal scale thats used worldwide? Baking Soda is a short time solution, you screw up your natural pH balance in the stomach, you also add allot of sodium to your system. Your body has defacto a pH of about 7,35 & your lucky you can't just alter that or you end up in the ER. pH of saliva or urine is not equal to 'Body pH', and varies trough the day. Grts Bruno M. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Re: baking soda Posted by: " thode " lizt777@... lizziethode Thu Aug 25, 2011 9:30 am (PDT) What do you mean " if you mess with it? " because if someone's PH is acidic, not raising that PH spells disaster for health. **See link below. Disease/ill health can only thrive in an acidic PH. Cancer cells/tumors are always found to be acidic. Inflammation equals acidic PH. Yes, I agree, it can be tricky. It does take time, attention and dedication.. In the beginning, I thought, oh geez, another thing to have to pay attention to. So I pretty much blew it off. Then later on, after trying a bunch of products that' were supposed to help raise the PH....expensive, didn't work...I threw my hands up. A little later, I kept running into articles on how important the PH was. Like some power/ force (whatever you want to call it) was putting this stuff in my face...hey, you, wake up. So I decided to take another look. That's when I found the info from Mark Sircus, and at the same time, found info that said wireless radiation makes the blood acidic. So I started trying the Baking Soda...small amts at a time. I don't remember how long it took before I stopped getting that yucky feeling of having a burp stuck..I do know I kept at it because I did notice a difference. My PH back then was pretty low....it took quite awhile to get it to move UP.. I did find, that getting rid of all the wireless in my house, and reducing my exposure- while keeping up with the Baking Soda, made a huge difference in my PH. This was right when I connected the dots to the ES stuff. I read tons of stuff...and decided to simplify. I do the bAking Soda, and I put raw veggies (cukes, zucchini, peppers) on my plate with cooked foods....I take raw garlic, crush it, mix it with organic Olive Oil, and put it on my raw veggies ( raw garlic has a PH of: 13+). Beef is -34/ chicken is -18 to -22 on the acid scale. Fresh Cucumbers are: +31-- I took the food combining and made it as easy for me as I could. I just do the zucchini/cukes with the raw garlic....to offset the cooked foods. The point is: it doesn't have to be hard. I keep a bowl of crushed garlic with the olive oil in my fridge. Meals, 2 out of 3, always include something RAW. I don't count the acid/alkaline anymore...I just make sure I have zuccini/cukes/peppers with raw garlic. For me, I feel better eating this way. All I can say is, try it- or don't. But how will you know if it works or makes you feel better, if ya don't try it? And one meal isn't usually enough. Although I did feel a difference, and one meal was enough for me to say: Hey, maybe there is something to this stuff!
