Should meats be washed before being consumed?

Hi Bee or anyone that could help, I was wondering if we had rinse meats before

cooking. It's something my mom always does, but I didn't think it was necessary

seeing as how cooking kills most of the bacteria I presume.

I almost always rinse meat before I cook them. My mother always does, too. I

guess I just learned it from her! )

I don't think it's necessary, though. Rinsing wouldn't get rid of bacteria

anyway.
