Guest guest
Hi Bee, My daughter, who is 7, had an insect bite of some kind on Monday at the beach. No idea what bit her but thinking it must have been an insect. We noticed a very large, round, hard, warm area of skin on the back of her leg. I did nothing but add some coconut oil and some essential oils to it. Yesterday it seemed a bit smaller but itchy. I applied the coconut oil again. Today, it seems larger again. A friend of ours who is a doctor (internist) looked at it and seemed very concerned, saying if she was his patient he would prescribe antibiotics because he thinks it is celullitis. He told me to look after it very carefully, taking care to note if it grows larger. He said she should take some benadryl before sleep tonight. Of course, I did not want to do any of these things. So instead, I gave her an oatmeal bath followed by more coconut oil mixed with essential oils. I have a blend called Purification that is for insect bites and it has rosemary oil, tea tree oil, lavender, and a couple of others mixed in. She is asleep now. But I am worried. When I read about celullitis online, it is potentially serious, if the infection gets deeper. If I take her to her doctor tomorrow morning, they are likely to prescribe antibiotics. Any advice? Thanks. , worried mom
