Guest guest
Hi Marty, Thanks for writing, I like the way that you always lay everything out so clearly. >Then, the shimmering started. >I had heard of it but didn't know what it meant until >it happened to me - weird!) I thought it was only me! >I had a neck injury about 1 year ago so I guess I >should look into >chiari/cervical stenosis. I cricked my neck when I was a kid doing Sunday morning acrobatics of my bed head. >QUESTION: If I had a chiari malformation or >stenosis, would it be logical to assume nothing would >help? (as in >help from >the glut injections, reaction to whey, effects of >antioxidants?) No, in my opinion. The chiari/stenosis (if you have it) is a congenital condition maybe aggravated by an old injury that has become symptomatic following a trigger (infection?). You have demonstrated immune abnormalities which have been helped by ATP/Glut supplements etc, but this doesn't neccessarily rule out chiari, you'll need an MRI to do that. The chiari effects the performance of the ANS with the possiblity of various sx, for example, some have gut symptoms such as poor motility. If you can imaging these sx could be helped by digestive enzymes, HCL Betain, rotation diet, etc when infact chiari is at the root of the problem. Most people with chiari also have NMH, this can be largely aleviated by surgery. Anyway must go now as I am fading fast and confusing myself! ===== on in Hampshire, England. jamesinspace@... __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Im no Doctor, but they sound to me like floaters. (look up transient visual scotomata on google ) I also have them to varying degrees of intensity (varying with the level of symptoms at the time) and they seem to pulse to my heartbeat. They only really stand out if I make an effort to look for them, however, and I can remember seeing them when I looked in the sky when I was a young child as well. Personally, I dont think that they are anything major (ie a sign of visual deterioation), or anything to worry about, and you'll probably find that most people (even the healthy ones) have the same thing. That being said, it is still best to check any health issues with your doctor. Sincerely, . > > I am asking for some help identifying a visual irregularity that I am > experiencing. This is *perfectly normal* and nothing to worry about. Lots of people notice them when the lighting is just right. It has nothing to do with CFIDS, as far as the reason you see them. > I have been able to find out very little about this phenomenon, with > only a few references on the web, and these are only anecdotal with no > analysis or discussion of causes. Go to any optometrist or ophthamologist and they'll tell you exactly what I just did. People have to stop thinking *everything* is CFIDS-related. Many things aren't. Remember Occam's Razor. Guest guest
Yes, my father was an ophthalmologist, and I remember a lot of his golfing buddies asking about visual irregularities. Remember, the inside of the eye is filled with liquid as well as capilaries, so it could be arterial related or not. But almost always, the irregularities resolve on their own. Guest guest
sharon, you should check with your doc,, but what Im thinking is that you may be experiencing "Ocular Migraines".. they cause a blurring of the vision but it does pass,, what I saw was like looking through 'cracked glass',, and I did occasionally have floaters. You can expect that your cataracts might fully blossum from treatment.. Please call your eye doc and have him take a look.. it may just be a simple "Ocular Migraine" and they are nothing to really worry about ,, but IM glad that they dont hurt! lol we have enough that hurts!SHARON CROSBY <csharonxoxo@...> wrote: I'm having some problems with my vision and don't know whether I should be worried or not. Guest guest
Im not sure exactly WHY they happen or what the pathophysiology is,, but interferon seems to cause them and they usually clear up after treatment ends.. Guest guest
The specks of protein are common, I'm told and nothing can be done about them. Just specks of dark matter that float around on the surface of my eye and cause me to go nuts. lol It might be part of what forms the cataracts, I don't know. Then I have a couple of dark scars on the surface of the eye from injuries. Then I am prone to irisitis and shingles in my eyes as well as in my mouth. He tells me I've lost a line of vision in the last year. The cataracts don't have to ripen to be removed now, they are shattered or something like that with lasers now. I don't know if it's a regular surgery or not, but I don't think it is. Sharon

Guest guest
Your advice carries more weight with me, Jax. Since you have the experience to back it up. Guest guest
Thank you Sharon... I always try to "impress:" how important things are WITHOUT trying to scare the folks Im trying to help...Dont you have anti-virals on hand for break outs for the shingles? I have bottles of it and whenever I feel that area itching,, I start taking the pills and so far, have really reduced the number of outbreaks I have had.. this last time, for some reason I didnt recognize the tingling and itching because it had been so long since I broke out... so I paid for it this time..lol.. I think the worst part, and yeah, I can be pretty vain, but the worst part is when its drying up and all scabby and ugly, I hate to have to go out in public with it.. I look like I have been drug with my face on the pavement,, but its now almost gone. Interferon CAN cause Sarcoidosis and its rare that it doesnt go to the lungs and ends up in the eyes but it does happen... BUT.. WOULD I have NOT taken treatment IF I HAD KNOWN that I would have ended up with all these permanent side effects??? NO, NO, NO... I WOULD have taken tx anyway because these things Im dealing with now are NOT really LIFE threatening,, the HEP WAS... I was stage 3-4 with early cirrhosis.. my live was completely tan and it was really sick when I found my hep... and THAT WAS going to kill me or put me on a transplant list... so I would always have treated AND IF I were to relapse, ID TAKE TX AGAIN.. in a drop of the hat, I'd start it again... because I AM a responder, I would in all likelihood respond again.... speaking of that, I NEED to get a call into my doc and get my PCR drawn.........lol,, oh I CAN BE such a procrastinator..lol Please feel free to email me off line if you have any questions that you want answered in private,, Im always available hon! jaxSHARON CROSBY <csharonxoxo@...> wrote: Your advice carries more weight with me, Jax. Guest guest
Just as a counterpoint to this, I have heterochromia and still have perfect vision at age 31. So, there is not necessarily a perfect correlation between vision problems and heterochromia. > > > > My 2 year old has one brown eye and one blue/grey eye.
