Guest guest
Hey Bee, I am a little confused about the dosing directions on your website for Niacin. How much should I take? On the website it says to take 50mg to 400 mg a day- What is the correct dosage? What I understand from your website is that everytime I take 50 mg of niacin I should take B complex 50 to balance it out with the rest of the B vitamins right? So, if I want to take 200 mg of niacin I should take 4 capsules of B complex 50? Also, on the the Natural factors Niacin label it says " warning: if history of ulcers consult doctor before taking niacin. " What does this mean? I was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis and because of H. Pylori I thing I have an ulcer in my stomach or in my small intestine. So, can I still take niacin or it will cause me some problems? Thanks. -JJD
Guest guest
Hi . As long as you keep niacin at or below 400 mg a day there is no need to take higher amounts of the b-complex. The recommended amount of niacin is 100 mg a day however. About the warning, I'll let Bee and the moderators advise you on this. kelly  ________________________________  Hey Bee, I am a little confused about the dosing directions on your website for Niacin. You should be taking niacin twice a day; in order to get less of a intense flush, take 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg in the evening, by cutting the tablet. Increase it to 50 mg am and pm when you get no flush after 5 days. Niacin promotes a healthy appetite and aids digestion by increasing the product of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. H. pylori reduces stomach acid, thus to correct this you need to raise stomach acid. Niacin helps address low stomach acid in conjunction with other supplements, HCL and the recommended foods on this diet. So, Yes, Niacin is safe to use and will not cause problems. , lastly, you may find the article link, below informative & encouraging in regards to addressing H.Pylori & Ulcerative Colitis. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/coconut9.php All The Best, Ed

Guest guest
Hello , I just wanted to add, you don't *need* to consume up to 400mg of niacin per day. Your healing will not be speeded up by increasing the niacin above the 50mg per day recommended dose. Plus it's more expensive to take more niacin, so why bother? It is not advisable to take 400 mg or more since your dosages of other supplements will also have to change at that point. I just got tired of cutting the tablet, so I take 50mg twice a day, for a total of 100mg. andra, a group moderator > Hey Bee, > I am a little confused about the dosing directions on your website for Niacin. Guest guest
If you don't get it within a couple hours after taking it, you're probably not going to get a flush that day. Some people have quite a niacin deficiency and it seems if this is the case that you aren't going to get the flush till the deficiency is filled. So maybe after taking it for 5 days you will get a flush shortly after taking it. However, even if you do not get a flush, rest assured, it still is effective and working, doing its job. Best in Health, Ed
