Hello Bee,

I have been making my own fermented kraut and pickles and love them, but when I

eat them,

sometimes they make my teeth hurt. So it feels like I have cavities or very

sensitive areas,

when my teeth are just fine with other foods.

Do you know why this might be happening, and what can be done about it?

It is unfomfortable!

Thanks so much,

Blessings,

in Oregon

+++Hi in Oregon,

Fermented foods are acidic like vinegar or lemons are. If enamel on your teeth

are not strong and healthy acids are more likely to have access to the dentin

portion of the teeth which has direct contact with the nerves.

A tooth structure includes enamel, which is the hard, white attractive outer

layer of the tooth, dentin, and pulp (a tiny island of soft tissue at the center

of the tooth which includes the nerve) -see this diagram:

Dentin makes up about 90% of the tooth. When looked at under a microscope,

dentin has a very specific structure. It is made up of " millions " of incredibly

tiny tubules that radiate outward from the pulp to the outer edge of the tooth,

like this:

When a tooth's protective covering is absent, dentin is exposed so they are open

at the surface of the dentin, allowing a direct channel to the nerve pulp.

The good news is that 2 women on this program reported forming new tooth enamel.

Here's one Success Story from Shirley I was able to get:

Dr. Weston A. Price reports this happening with children he put on a nutritious

diet too, when cavities were also enclosed and sealed off with new enamel. He

took photos and x-rays before and after, which is documented in his book

Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.

Until your enamel becomes strong enough I suggest you rinse your mouth well with

water after having acidic foods and/or eat them along with a bite of vegetable,

meat or egg to lessen their reaction on your teeth.
