Guest guest
Hi, my husband and I are at water filters as our bench-top ceramic filter takes a long time to fill and we have two thirsty boys! We are looking at Stiebel Eltron, from Germany (can't buy Brita filters here). My question is, the one we like gives soft water. The water goes through loose carbon and carbon block filtration and the system is supposed to get rid of chlorine, pesticide residues etc ... Does anyone have experience with this brand and does this sound good? My gut says you can trust German technology ... Thanks, Priya

Thanks, Priya > @@ Hi Priya, No one should drink softened water since it is very high in sodium and causes your body to get rid of water along with important minerals. A filter with a charcoal filter is what you want. I would speculate the type of filtration the Stiebel Eltron filter uses i.e Carbon is responsible for softening the water. Which you don't want. Thus, the " Stiebel Eltron " filter would not be a good choice for your purposes. Priya, perhaps see if you can acquire a " PUR " water filter instead or some other filter which utilizes a " charcoal filter " process. Guest guest
Thanks for that Ed. It is all a bit confusing but I think we might have other options to investigate. The filter we were looking at does use both loose carbon powder and a special carbon block made of coconut shell but the lit says it produces soft water, so ... Anyway, thanks, Priya. > > > > Hi, my husband and I are at water filters as our bench-top ceramic filter takes a long time to fill and we have two thirsty boys! Guest guest
Hmmmm. . . I have been using a Zero Water filter pitcher. It claims to remove flouride. I wonder if it's removing the good stuff too? Any thoughts on how I could find out? Thanks, e

Some filters remove all of the minerals and then add processed minerals back into the water, so be aware. Bee
