Guest guest
Tea tree oil has also helped with my nails when they are acting up. I don't know where you live, but both in GA and the UP it's available in drug and natural food stores and also in some places it's available in beauty supply houses. It's sorta pricey, but considering the cost of going to a dermatologist plus prescriptions, it doesn't look so bad that way. /MI/UP
Guest guest
: I have have tea tree oil in the house and have tried it... no luck. I have also tried the Vicks. No luck I actually had a culture done, and this did come back positive as fungus, so I am sure that is what it is ...The doctor did advise that medications only work about 60% of the time... Guest guest
Hi, I've had to deal w/this for a number of years, seems like I get rid of it, then get careless about it and 6 months or a year or two later it starts again on the other foot or whatever. I've found two protocols that work, and I'll use either or both of them depending. . . The absolute all-time winner is pretty simple but takes time, day after day, week after week, twice a day; I take a foot-bath size plastic tub and fill it with warm water and add plain ol' clorox. How much? that takes a little experimenting, clorox is about 5% strength sodium hypochlorite, not kind to one's skin. Maybe a half cup in enough warm water to cover one's feet, and I'll put my feet in it for 5 minutes then look to see and feel if the solution is too strong or not having any effect on my skin - top of the foot is usually most sensitive area. I'll adjust the strength based on my evaluation; I want to leave my feet in for about twenty minutes. My feet may be a little red by the end of that time but not very and if the sensation is only a little tickly or itchy that's close to just right for me. I do this twice a day for twenty to thirty minutes a time, take a book and lie down on the couch. Any sensation that the solution is too strong and I quit right then and try a weaker mix next time. It takes time for the stuff to penetrate into the nail so you have to be able to do this for a while each session, i.e. faster and stronger is NOT better. The other way I use is to use CS with dmso mixed in, and clotrimazole while the feet are wet with this solution; also seems to make a difference if I get it onto all the toes, all over, the ball of the foot and the heel too. I think the fungus may live in the calluses. I'll also drink CS, not CS mixed with dmso. It also makes a big difference to keep the nails trimmed a close as possible, and remove as much dead nail material as you can without hurting yourself or drawing blood; no need to do that! Hope this helps you, it has me. Guest guest
I think athlete's foot is a fungus infection, and I had it bad when I was a kid. My dad put a tablespoon of clorox in a quart of hot water and had me soak my feet in it twice a day for a week, or so. It went away and did not come back. So, the chlorine solution is deadly for fungus infections. Under the toenail is more of a problem, but maybe it could be mixed with DMSO and it would penetrate better. I'm not recommending this, as I have not tried it myself, and cannot say it is safe. That Italian onchologist is curing lung and colon cancer, which he claims is a fungus, with baking soda. He claims that fungus cannot live in an alkaline atmosphere. I did dissolve soda in water and mixed it 1 to 1 with DMSO to apply to a mole that was turning black and enlarging. After applying the mixture for a couple of weeks the mole cannot even be found. Can't say it was cancer, because I never had it checked, but it was a mole that I had for 50 years, and its gone now. Sorry to get off topic. Dick
Guest guest
re below. either godzilla or use ozone bagging after wetting foot in warm water. ozone kills pathogens. or use hydrogen peroxide baths. i am amazed you have done nothing for 20 years. also sterilize footwear/bedwear/clothes to prevent repear infections. > > My daughter has it and she went on the meds for it after having failed with our devices and also topical anti-fungals. > > And we don't know if the meds will work for any long time. > > Foot doctor recommended " cool max " socks to help keep feet drier. Guest guest
godzilla was tried without much effect. also it takes forever to apply it. most of the solutions offered do not work or take so long to do that it is not realistic. we have done a lot in 20 years and none of it worked in this particular case. godzilla has helped two others I know of, my Mom who used it 20 min a day for months, and it grew half out clean, then came back when she stopped. and another woman with a mild case who is keeping it under control. sadly, this does not do much. the infection comes back very easily. h202 is not what I would ever use on live cells, it kills them off and leaves the area more exposed to infection. it is far less harmful if diluted 3 or 4:1. ER's dilute it this way. Even so they hate using it as the risks and benefits are not in a good ratio. I have this from sources I trust, Your Mileage May Vary. bG > > > > My daughter has it and she went on the meds for it after having failed with our devices and also topical anti-fungals. > > > > And we don't know if the meds will work for any long time. > > > > Foot doctor recommended " cool max " socks to help keep feet drier. Guest guest
Have you tried 3Tbs Epsom salts per litre in hot water to dip as long as you can, remove and dip again for a bit longer (as the water cools), ending in a 10min soak? Twice a week until resolved (worst case 4-6weeks treatment). This works! Had big toe that had got to losing the nail without anything else working. Did this 2 weeks, black, greenish nail bed and all. Did it first week and began to see improvement, did it a second week and have not done it again since. Nail grew out pretty and pink like nothing ever happened, surprised the GP to no end. Good Luck > > > > > > My daughter has it and she went on the meds for it after having failed with our devices and also topical anti-fungals. > > > > > > And we don't know if the meds will work for any long time. > > > > > > Foot doctor recommended " cool max " socks to help keep feet drier. Guest guest
I have fungus on my right hand thumb. It is becoming lighter. As my bodies heals itself, will this evenually go away completely? Can my nail be used as a health barometer? Nikki
