I suggest bite sized everything and/or nibbles. We has a grand opening party for our clinic and served fruit salad, veggie + dip trays, shrimp with cocktail sauce, some kind of spinach veggie mix on crackers, tea, coffee and water. We had only small salad plates for dishing up and kept the food in a seperate little room while everyone mingled throughout the clinic. I just made sure there were no cakes, cookies, carbonated beverages etc. We also did prize drawings for cookbooks, pedometers, gym membership, running shoes etc. We had 3-4 story boards with a handful of patients success stories (of course the patients agreed to having their picture taken and story told!) It all went quite well. Even though there was food, it was not all about the food and it was not an overwhelming amount of food. Just wanted to share my experience, hope this helps.

We are planning our surgical weight loss facilities one year anniversary party open to both hospital staff and patients. I am in charge of planning the menu. Any suggestions? I prefer to focus on non-food related activities, however I was vetoed. I hope to be able to raffle off a gym membership, a free med-gem reading, and a free weight loss assessment.

Thanks for any input. I want to make this a wonderful party.

Thank you

You could hand out pedometers and water bottles as prizes or favors. Check with your Novartis representative to see if they could provide any free samples of optisource. Gift certificates for sporting good stores may also be a nice door prize. one year anniversary

Marilyn-

Congratulations on your anniversary. I bet that wonderful black dress is

fitting now--if you get much smaller, you'll have to buy a new dress!

Congratulations, ! I can't remember from last year (heck,

sometimes I can't remember last week), but did you have your surgery

at U of M? Who was your surgeon and who is your GI? Those details

might help someone else here. It's great to hear of your success :)!

, also in Michigan

One Year Anniversary

Greetings, All!

Today is the one year anniversary of my Myotomy & I just wanted to

check in and say - I'm GREAT!

I went from never eating after 7pm, sleeping on a 45 degree angle,

waking up 4-5 nights a week coughing, and lots of sore throat issues to

a completely flat bed and ONE coughing night in 365! AND I can eat

anything at anytime and go to bed immediately after without any worry.

What a lifestyle change it has been. You don't even realize all the

concessions you have worked into over the years until you have them all

reversed in one day.

Thanks so much to this group for the resources, encouragement and

support in seeking out surgical options. I wouldn't have done it

without you.

Wishing everyone wellness in their future.

Congratulations on your one year anniversary, Jolene. Please hang in there,

as I am 3 years out from my re-implant and going bilateral as well, and I am

still getting new sound and improvement. Make a date with your audi and let

him/her know what it is you feel is missing and maybe they can help you find it

with a new map. Best of luck. Jackie :o)

Joleen-

You proved your surgeon wrong because doctors really don't know (bleep)... I was

profoundly deaf at birth, my surgeon said there was 50/50 chance that I will be

able to hear at all. And it turned out that with my implants turned on, my

hearing goes up to mild loss or a little better than that. Amazing, right?

Hello friends,

Just wanted to write a quick note to everyone. I wanted to share that today is

my one year anniversary on Bee's diet. It has been a hard first year for me. I

did a lot of little cheating because I had severe cravings for chocolate, but I

am happy to say that FINALLY I am rounding the bend and am getting over them, so

perhaps my healing will come along quicker now. I have had a lot of improvements

like no more bloating and inflamation or illiocecal valve pain and my menstrual

problems, and the weird symptoms that went with it, are getting better every

month. I have detoxed and retraced in weird ways and expect much more. I have

kept a journal and can go back and read how things have changed and improved

over the last year. I will chalk up this year as a good breaking in period and

look forward to many more. So hang in there guys...things will get better.
