Guest guest
I am moving to Arizona and have been told that the water there is bad and everyone needs a softener. I am considering the Pelican Natursoft ( http://www.waterfilter-usa.com/pse1800-premium-whole-house-filtersoftener-13-bat\ hrooms-p-379.html ), which is a salt-free unit. Do you think this unit would supply drinkable water? It breaks up the calcium and magnesium to prevent scale. Are there any suggestions from group members who already live out there? I just can't seem to find the answers I am looking for. Thanks so much, Dawn

Guest guest
Dawn...I live in northern Arizona and have considered purchasing EASYWATER http://www.easywater.com/ ---but it costs at least an additional $150 more than your Pelican water system. At least for now, I'm content with just using a PUR water filter that attaches to one's faucet. (You can buy their 3 stage filter in a 6 pack for additional savings.) By the way, WELCOME to Arizona! You should love it here! --Ken ............ > > I am moving to Arizona and have been told that the water there is bad and everyone needs a softener. Guest guest
Dawn, I live in northern Arizona. Found a good filter for the shower head & I use a Brita filter at the kithen sink. I'm sure there are many elaborate systems you could install, but why ? Susie > > I am moving to Arizona and have been told that the water there is bad and everyone needs a softener. Guest guest
Susie, From what I understand, the pipes and appliances will clog up from the high mineral content in the city water, hence the need for the softener. I figured that I might as well buy a whole house charcoal filter while I was at it. I definitely appreciate any insight. Dawn " susiedu " <susiedu@...> wrote: > > Dawn, I live in northern Arizona. Guest guest
Thanks Ken, I am excited about moving to AZ! Thanks for the info. I hadn't come across EasyWater yet, so I'll have to check it out. How often does the PUR/Brita filter need to be changed? Guest guest
Weird. Were you using city water here? Several people here have said that no one drinks the water and you need the softener to protect your pipes. I just don't know. Thanks for the reply, Dawn > I was born and raised in AZ and never even heard of that. Guest guest
Dawn, it may depend upon where in Az. you live. Water quality can vary wherever we go. Older homes with old plumbing can be a problem regardless of water quality. I don't know of any water-hardness problems here in Kingman, Az. People all over the country avoid drinking tap water, for whatever reason. Keep researching. I'm wondering whether it does since it removes sediments from pipes. Bee

One is Brita and the other 2 are from Superstore here in Canada, which are President's Choice. Bee
