Thyroid medication change from Synthroid to Armour

I had been taking Synthroid (0.05 mg) for a number of years, maybe 4

years. About two months ago, I decided to change to Armour.

The doctor mumbled grumpily about me changing, and said take 1 pill (30

mg tablet) till we get me tested in a few weeks, but the pharmacist said

to take 1 1/2 pills, which I started doing.

Since I've started on this eating plan, should I just drop back to the

one pill (30 mg) until I go in for a test?

Thank you so much for the ongoing support. Best, Sharon

+++Hi Sharon,

Call your pharmacist to ensure he got your doctors approval for the higher dose,

which the doctor should note on your records. If not, you should call or see

your doctor to get his approval of the change.

However, I don't think your doctor translated the correct amount of thyroid from

Synthroid to Armour.

If you take a dose your doctor didn't approve of he won't interpret your next

test accurately.
