I felt I'd spent a lot of time researching tanning beds and very few websites stated they were good for Vit D absorption. Most just said they tan your skin but not increased Vit D... Guest guest
Hi My only source is from watching a video from ph Mercola where he says that a SAFE tanning bed produces the same UBA to UBV ratios as the sun. UBV of course makes vit d3.Those ratios are approx 20 to 1 from UVA to UVB. Then i used the link Bee, and calculated that 10mins in a Safe regular tanning bed should give a person 2000iu cause 100% of your body is exposed in the bed. Thats my calculation, im not a mathemetician so probably you can try to figure out the calculations for yourself, and get back to me if i am wrong. According to ph Mercola a SAFE tanning bed is one with the ballast is NOT magnetic, but electric. He says that if the bed sounds loud its a good indicator the bed is magnetic, but if it is quiet more than likely its electric. You would have to contact where you tan i guess and get confirmation about that. Also he says the bulbs should be based on sunlight, which nowadays i think most of them are. For ph Mercola video, i just googled his name and search vitd3 articles. I am not computer literate at all therefore have no way to provide the link. Maybe i should learn, LOL. I hope that helps a bit, all the best....
