very good sheena,, plus people need to remember that alcohol breaks down to pure sugar and is very harmful to the liver,, so ingesting sugar is just almost as bad!Sheena <mom4possums2002@...> wrote: I can sure tell you it sure plays hard ball with the immune system.. Sugar is sugar Liz.. all forms including molasses and honey all break down into simple sugars.. The endocrinologist that sees, who diagnosed his diabetes, said that even splenda which is not made from sugar but from chlorine and aspartame also break down into simple sugars in the body as they are digested and he was told to stay away from them as well. I think the only real safe fake sugar substitue is sacharin which is even harmful if taken in huge amounts.. altho the amounts one would have to take to cause damage is so very high that I highly doubt anyone would be able to consume that much... but if used in smaller doses, it 'seems' to be the safest of the sugar substitutes.. elizabethnv1 <elizabethnv1@...> wrote: oh wow , but does that include raw sugar ? I'm doing "Stevia" instead of sugar it's all natural 0 calores,0 carbs,0 chemicals. Stevia is a leaf. It tastes pretty good. You get used to it. Its a little pricey but we're worth it :) Peace, SteveJackie on <redjaxjm@...> wrote: Sugar is sugar Liz.. all forms including molasses and honey all break down into simple sugars.. We use Xylitol at our house. It is natural (made from harw wood bark or other

plant fibers), delicious, and actually good for your teeth and diabetes.

We buy it online.

My brother used to ship it to me when he was alive because he bought it by the

50lb bags and sent it to all of his friends and family.

It is granulated just like sugar so you can use it to bake with. I hardly use much anymore as we have turned away

from sweets pretty much (except chocolate) and we don’t sweeten tea or

coffee. If you run a google you

will find a bunch of sites. There

are those expensive ones who say theirs is from Maple bark and that it is

better than the cheaper brands that use other plant fibers, but to be honest

with you I cannot tell a bit of difference between them taste-wise. I don’t remember who we got it from last.

Yes, he died Sept 11th 2004. He was the first of us diagnosed with the virus. But he wouldn’t fight it and chose the

other path. I will miss him always. Sorry for your brother’s loss as well. It is hard.

Thanks for all the prayers.

I did mine, as well, was his hospice

family member and took care of his personal needs at the end. It was for me, as well, the most spiritual and

tender moment of my life. The way

his face changed and the pain and the years dropped away.

I know he found peace.

You have so much strength Jackie , it amazes me .

RE: Sugar

it is something we both will never forget,,

one of my very good friends had her mother at home when she was dying and I helped her as well, I watched her take her last breath and felt her last heartbeat as well,, when it started dropping, it stayed at 25 beats per min for almost an hour,, and it was as you said, so tender to watch her pain leave her.. my brother got a very 'scared' look on his face and then he put his chin out almost defiantly and then he was gone... its something that I will always carry with me..Nikki Cowan <nikkicowansbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote:

how much sugar to how much water are you using?

We have to know how much water you are using to know if 4 cups of sugar is

too much.

I use 3 qts water, 10 oz starter and 1 1/3 cup sugar and of

course........tea

Normally, if your kombucha is too sweet, you let it brew longer and it

will lose the sugar and get tart.
