Guest guest
It is T cell mediated. My son Lucas 12, does not build antibodies to Candida which is the primary yeast in thrush. But his usually was on his Penis and I think he had it once in his mouth. Lots of Yogurt as well as Probiotics seems to keep his at bay. BARBIE Oral Thrush What type of immune pathway protects again yeast? had lots of yeasty diaper rashes while in diapers, but never oral thrush (was breastfed and never took a bottle if that makes a difference). On Tuesday, the hematologist noted that he has oral thrush on one cheek, which she said was odd, but was sure that's what it was. Tues was also IVIG day, so if those pathways help, maybe that would explain it? Thanks! Guest guest
Hey , has problems with yeast and fungus too. When he was little it was thrush in the mouth and a bad diaper rash. Now he has problems with his bottom and penis area along with his mouth and throat and GI tract. I was told this is probably from his T cell problems along with the chronic antibiotic use and even his steroid inhalers and nebs. It definitely gets worse when on antibiotics. On his diaper area we use butt paste which has an antifungal in it. For his mouth and throat he has used fluconazole and nystatin too. It is a daily battle for him. Talk to you soon. Guest guest
We get thrush here also. Nystatin (both liquid and cream) for whichever parts of the body affected. We also have found gentian violet works great and is natural. We put it on a cotton swab (qtip) and place it on the tongue and around the inside of the cheeks. We had to special order it at the pharmacy, but it really works well for us. Rita Wow!! Have you checked out the new books?? Introduce educational excellence with Usborne Books to your community. Guest guest
, Hope has had problems with yeast from birth. She had her first yeast infection at 4 days old!! I had no idea that so many others had the same issues. When Hope had her titers checked she had NO defense against yeast. She takes Diflucan everyday. She still gets some yeast infection sometime and we have no idea why. She has never had it in her mouth though which really surprises all of her Dr.'s. She usually gets it around her neck and in the creases of her body. I rinse Hope's toothbrush with Listerine before every brush to try to avoid the infections. We have also used nystatin creme and they also make a powder that was more comfortable for her. It made her not feel so greasy. I hope it all resolves soon for you!! God Bless. Guest guest
Gentian violet is awesome, always had horrible weeping yeast rashes on her bottom and we spent 4 months fighting it with Nystatin and the stuff was worthless. Someone told me to try the GV and it killed it flat in 3 days:) Now its all we've used the past 7 years when ever the yeastie beastie shows up. RE: Oral Thrush We get thrush here also. Guest guest
---We've got yeast problems here as well. Mostly myself and my 8 yr old CVID boy. We had an awful time clearing it over the winter. We did nystatin, diflucan over and over.....finally, we tried Magic Mouthwash which was mixed at the pharmacy and I think had benedryl, nystatin, maalox, and lidocaine in it. That helped the most, I think. Then, we started him on probiotics, which has also helped. I asked our ID about them first and he thought that was worth a shot. Guest guest
Hi Bee~ I'm almost done with my Nystatin treatment for thrush (just one does left). I noticed 3 days ago that my tongue started to look better, more pink. Now It has a slight white coating again. Is this die-off? I'm also a little bloated on the right side with slight cramping. I'm hoping this is a lot of the candida dying off! I have eliminated all carbs and sugars from my diet for almost 2 weeks now, although I did have a slice of sourdough bread. I still haven't gotten my ultrasound results back and it's been a week. I'm hoping no news is good news?? LOL I love how quickly you respond and how I can find so much info in this group!
