Guest guest
Bee, I have switched to all of the supplements that you recommend for you diet, and I have to say to you and everyone that I am feeling much better overall. (even with die-off symptoms from the diet). I also know that you have posted some references to Dr. Mercola, even though, I know that you do not buy into everything he says. I just read his newsletter today and he discusses Vit. D. but it talks about how the retinol form of Vit. A negates the effect of Vit. D. and is quoting that from some research article. He says the beta carotene form of A does not interfere. I attached the link for you to check out if you get a chance. I am curious to hear your thoughts. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/03/16/warning-new-proof-\ confirms-if-you-take-this-supplement-vitamin-d-will-not-work-as-well.aspx
Guest guest
I read the Mercola article too. I take beta-carotene to get my Vit A as to me it makes sense to get closer to the food form, allowing your body to decide how much to convert to Vit A. Also I don't take CLO as most sources are refined and the Vits A & D added back as supplements. Makes more sense to me to instead take fish oil and beta-carotene and Vit D separately, that way too I can decrease D in the summertime when I'm getting it naturally via the sun. Bee may or may not approve but I'm interested in hearing what she has to say about it. - Roy M. > > > Bee, > > I have switched to all of the supplements that you recommend for you diet, and I have to say to you and everyone that I am feeling much better overall. This has come up several times on this group since Dr. Mercola changed his recommendations about taking cod liver oil. The Weston A. Price Foundation has studied the research he is relying on, and this is their rebuttal to Dr. Mercola: http://www.westonaprice.org/A-Response-to-Dr.-Joe-Mercola-on-Cod-Liver-Oil.html Most people who have candida or who are sick and unhealthy are not able to convert beta carotene to the form the body needs, which is retinol. If that were true about vitamin A versus vitamin D, Dr. Weston A. Price wouldn't have been able to save people's lives (many were at death's door) by giving them half butter oil and half high vitamin cod liver oil, as he writes in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. Also, if " true " vitamin A (retinol) from fish " liver " oils caused problems I would know it since I've been taking the ratios I recommend to this group for over 20 years! And people on this group wouldn't be able to heal properly. All the best, Bee

Most people who have candida or are unhealthy cannot make the conversion of beta carotene to the form your body needs, which is retinol (true vitamin A). +++You must have missed all of the posts recently about this Vitamin A issue. See this rebuttal to Dr. Mercola by the Weston A. Price Foundation who studied this issue in depth and even evaluated the studies Dr. Mercola relied upon: http://www.westonaprice.org/A-Response-to-Dr.-Joe-Mercola-on-Cod-Liver-Oil.html > Also I don't take CLO as most sources are refined and the > Vits A & D added back as supplements. +++That also is not true. I recommend Garden of Life CLO and they don't refine their CLO and they don't remove the natural occurring vitamin A and D. Also Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil is excellent too. Someone recently wrote to Carlson's about their CLO and they also do not remove natural vitamin A & D. Makes more sense to me to instead take fish oil and beta-carotene and Vit D separately, that way too I can decrease D in the summertime when I'm getting it naturally via the sun. Bee may or may not approve but I'm interested in hearing what she has to say about it. +++In order to get vitamin D from sun exposure you must be able to meet all of the criteria, and I don't believe most people today can do that. That is mainly because we shower so much these days, and it takes time for natural oils to build up on the skin, etc. +++It worked okay when I was a kid because we only bathed once a week, and of course we didn't have chlorinated or treated water. But even then my parents gave us cod liver oil in the Winter months since we lived in the North. +++So that's why I recommend taking CLO all year - here's the criteria you need to meet: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/sun.php +++As I just wrote in response to 's message, if true vitamin A were a problem Dr. Weston A. Price wouldn't have been able to bring people back from death's door by giving them half butter oil and half high vitamin cod liver oil, as documented in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. Guest guest
> > Hello Bee jenny here again. you recommended i take extra vitamin a for 3 months. " Take 90,000 IU of vitamin A per day, including the amount you are getting in your cod liver oil " ... > > Ive been taking 6 shark live oil 10,000 iu each NOW BRAND and cod liver oil 2 spoons full. just want to make sure i'm doing it right. > ___Hi . Yes, that is correct, but be sure to not take that high of a dose at least one day every month so you body can adjust itself as needed.
