Guest guest
Connie, My nose did that to me while I was on treatment. I could just be sitting there and I'd feel something running out of my nose and it would be blood. But it was only that bad while I was on treatment. However, I noticed about a year before I found out I had HCV that when I had a cold, or allergies, my nose would bleed if I sneezed or blew it sometimes, and that had never happened up until then. I look back and think that was one of the first signs I had that something was wrong, that and thinking I was very out of shape, but nothing I did to get back into shape helped - I just kept feeling more and more tired. It all started about the same time. I still have the nose bleeding problem now - just not anything as bad as while on treatment. Guest guest
Seems like I read somewhere about nosebleeds connected to HCV. I have always been prone to them but nothing like this. I did the same thing by working out in the gym at work. Just more exhausted and achey. That is when Doc said I had Fibro.....that led to another blood test and from that he saw LFT's elevated, referred me to GI. Within 3 weeks I was on meds, they did the Ultrasound and Biopsy first. It was fast, it happened so quickly, my head should have been spinning. The Sports drinks they have much sugar? Tell your son maybe he can ask for the nyastatin or whatever way you spell it. I was told Burn patients get it all the time. Hope he is better soon. I wish I could think of the name, lol, I will be asleep and bing wake up and remember name, go to computer to e mail it to you and by the time I get everything up and running, I will have forgot......LOL, Take Care, Connie --- claudine intexas <claudineintexas@...> wrote: > Connie, > My nose did that to me while I was on treatment. > I > could just be sitting there and I'd feel something > running out of my nose and it would be blood. Guest guest
The sports drink - I forgot about the sugar. I'm sure it does have sugar, don't know if they make any sugar free type. Guess that might not be the best thing for you! Since you have ITP I would think it would be more natural for you to have nose bleeds. But how are your platelets now? Have you had ANY blood work lately? C __________________________________________________

Guest guest
None since first week of September. I just hope I am not doing harm instead of good. That bloodwork the Platelets were 69. Everything was low, hope I haven't stretched it to bottoming out. I use to get nose bleeds from water in shower hitting my face. So they really don't bother me that much. I was just wondering...if normal, because the amount of them I am having, blood looks like transparent Cherry Jello or maybe Strawberry, lol.....I was making some Jello last night and it came to my mind,...Take Care, Connie --- claudine intexas <claudineintexas@...> wrote: > > Since you have ITP I would think it would be more > natural for you to have nose bleeds. Guest guest
Connie, You may have a combination of low platelets and prologed pro time to explain your bleed from nose. It is usually spontaneous. If it does continue then you should have it packed.

Guest guest
Connie, you need blood work! Somehow - maybe go to ER when you have a nosebleed? I don't know how, but you NEED more blood work. Sept. was a long time ago. C PS - maybe you really do need to move to the other county - seriously. They have more resources there to help you - and you need those resources! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Doc, Have missed you. I had it packed one time, the Dr and I had a battle him trying to put it in my nose and me not wanting it to go in my nose. The 3rd attempt he got it in, because he made me sit on my hands. ME no want Packing it hurtsssssssss. Yes it is spontaneous. I can feel it trickling out. What would make the color of my blood a translucent Cherry color? Guest guest
Speaking of nose bleeds, I had one today....in a restaurant......the good news is that it didn't last very long. Don't worry, I carried my napkin home with me and burned it.....this is called Christmas stress.........so.........as of today.........I quit......the rest of it will take care of itself. It is a sign of low platelet count and it is your capillaries that are bleeding. This goes along with those spider veins you've suddenly developed in your feet and legs.....you mean we aren't having fun, yet? Liverite will usually bring mine back up.....along with my RBC. I don't like to take it continually because it causes a few other problems with me. Talk to your doc first. LOL, and Merry Christmas, Anne
Guest guest
Connie, I am always here. Light color means your Hb and hematocrit must be down as well, have it checked. If no packing then , clip your nostrils with a clothes clip! Just kiddin..but it will help! SM Re: Nose Bleeds Hi Doc, Have missed you. Guest guest
I get nose bleeds quite often, but had assumed it was because maybe I take a lot of aspirin and the air too dry. I have to have a humifier in every room I'm in and that helps a lot. I also try to keep a very light coat of vicks inside the nostral area...that seems to help keep it from drying out. If this could be related to Hep C, I'd be very interested in knowing. Let me know, ok? Betty

Guest guest
Hi Betty...that idea of a little vicks is a good one...I'll give that a try. I don't have humidifiers, but I did have one last winter and it helped...it mysteriously disappeared from my house...hmmmm, gotta ask around about that. I don't get nosebleeds but when I get stuffed up from the forced hot air..and try to blow..then it bleeds a bit. Just dried out, I guess...hey that makes me sound like a candidate for AA, lol. Thanks Carol Arkhepcgal@... wrote: > > I get nose bleeds quite often, but had assumed it was because maybe I take a > lot of aspirin and the air too dry. Guest guest
Betty should you be taking Aspirin? Well I hate heaters and if it happens to have to be on for others I keep my window open a bit. I tried the Vicks last night but it bled anyway. Today it has slowed down, but is lighter in color too though. My son said it kind of looks like one of those red pencils. Carol don't you hate it when you know you had something and when you ask about it they all look at you like you have lost your mind. Well maybe I have..lol..but I still know I had things, and no longer have them when go to looking for them. About the Hep C and nosebleeds I know I read somewhere that is one of the symptoms. Before I was daignosed I was having very bad nosebleeds daily. I had to go to the ER and that is were they packed it. My BP was 52/26, triage nurse said why it took so long to get a reading is that it thought I was dead. I like them they were funny and it didn't hurt to much for the Dr to look like Jim Belushi. Told me he was mixing some cocaine up to squirt into my nose, was supposedly to numb it but it didn't. Just felt it burning as it went down the back of my throat. If I see it somewhere again I will make note of it and let you know. Connie __________________________________________________
