Thanks for the info. I'm scared now. How soon can a baby be weaned off

formula safely? He eats four meals a day, but he is only 8 1/2 months

old. (born 5/24/98). I don't like the thought of him getting alot of

aluminum. Ugh. I wish I were still nursing... what are the chances of

relactating? I still have some colostrum... I wish I were still

nursing... I wish I were still nursing... I HATE having to worry about

the formula! ACK! (If anyone wants to know why I stopped, I had to go

back to work so we could live, and someone at work stole my breast pump.

I went to WIC to see if they would replace it, but they said they

couldn't. But they would give me free formula. So he started getting

formula when I was at work, and I tried hand expressing, but I kept

losing my BM. And Tyler started much preferring the bottle. Less work,

you know. I still want to cry that he isn't nursing. I miss it so

much. Oh, well, such is life, I guess.) Well, enough of a novel from

me!

Thanks for the info, even if it does scare me!

It wasn't a very expensive one, just one of those small electric ones by

Medela. Maybe $100? But there are SOOOOOOOOOOO many pregnant women

where I work... I was so upset when I found it missing. I felt like

someone had stolen from my baby. (Well, in effect, they did!) I still

want to cry when I realize he won't ever nurse again. I loved him

nursing. I loved having him in bed with us. (Still does, sometimes,

but he actually sleeps better in his own bed!) He doesn't like me to

carry him much, thinks his sling is an instrument of torture now that he

can move on his own. After all, he has places to go and messes to make!

He doesn't have time to snuggle with mommy! Pardon me, I think I'm

gonna go weep now! I really hate it, though, since we didn't have an

extra penny to our name when it dissappeared that I had to switch. I

was trying so hard to do things " right " . Exclusively BFing, not

vaccinating, no antibiotics, ect. And then I feel like I had nursing

" stolen " from me! I really wish WIC would have helped with a pump.

Even letting me borrow one... Oh, well. And Tyler has been sick a

couple of times since I stopped nursing, which REALLY helps me know all

those statistics are right. He's had numerous ear infections, and was

nearly hospitalized for Rotavirus. More reasons I wish I were still

nursing. I am friends with my local LLL leader. I'll have to give her

a call. I also will have to talk to my DH, since he is kind of happy

" his " breasts are back to normal. (He was NOT happy being sprayed!)

Well, thanks for letting my vent/cry/blabber/whatever!

Shalia

P.S. I promise I will do a formal intro sometime! Haven't gotten

around to it yet, but I will!

Shalia,

You can relactate, although I've heard that it is difficult, but I would think

it might be worth it, considering your well-founded fears of formula. Try the

oh you should be able to relactate pretty easily, especially if you can still

express something.. call your local La Leche League or a lactation consultant.

I could almost bet their advice to you would be simply to put the child to

your breast and have him/her start nursing again.. the more they suckle, the

sooner you'll start to relactate.

When I weaned my first daughter we tried milk based and she got a rash all

over and threw up, we switched to soy,(I was going to use soy first I wish I

had), She drank it till she was 5 and when my second daughter weaned we went

to soy(isomil) first and with my third I plan to nurse for atleast the first

year+ and my girls still drink soy milk, Edon Soy from health food store and

drink juice with calcium. I heard soy was good for your health. Eastern

people use a lot of soy, something about a study with them.???

Hope this gives you a perspective.

Not sure if this really needs saying - but I thought Id go ahead anyway. Soy

is a common allergen - my eldest has a severe allergy to soy, peanuts, and

egg. Please be cautious when introducing any formula to babies - its hard to

recognize allergies in infants.

I think I read someplace that the Compound X will work with. you're supposed

to put a small dab between 2 small pieces of bread or in a capsule and

swallow. I've not had personal experience with this, but I'm told that

compound X is natures chemotherapy. They also tell me that not many people

can keep it down for long. But I would think that the smaller the dab the

more likely you could keep it down, then work your way up.

It may be with a try. The tumor I get on my hand just dries up and falls off

in just a couple of weeks with this.

Hi ,

In my opinion the protocol he is following will not

stop the

tumor. Firstly he is not taking a macrophage activator, like a mushroom extract

or yeast

beta glucan (2 or 3 gms daily). MGN is not a macrophage activator, but would be

OK to

take in addition to a macrophage activator.

Secondly, even if he did take a macrophage activator that would not help as

the

macrophage would not be able to identify the tumor, due to the slime coating of

the tumor

hiding it from the macrophage. Proteolytic enzymes are used to remove the slime.

Home

made pineapple and paw paw (papaya) juice, plus an enzyme complex including

bromelain,

papayain and pancreatic enzymes.

Thirdly, he is not stimulating the bone marrow to manufacture more immune

cells by

taking Spirulina powder, 3 to 6 heaped teaspoons a day.

Fourthly you do not mention vitamin C, 5 to 10 gms a day.

Also he is not taking L-selenomethionine 1000 mcg a day with Vitamin E

1200 I.U. a

day.

The issue of soy milk is not very significant, so milk would seem OK to

take.

The diet is good, most people take a raw vegetable juice based diet made

in a slow

speed juicer.

Ok...

From what I have heard there is a concern that Women who drink soy may have a

higher risk of cancer due to the isoflavanoids that are estrogenlike. Also,

baby boys and pregnant women carying a male fetus may be at risk for having

penile abnormalities due to all the " estrogen " in soy products.

Or so I have heard.

I have been reading all the commentary on this list for one week now, ( I just

joined) and I've caught several times you aren't allowed to have soy milk

(re:below cut and paste by Dekany ). Yet in the book " Eat Right for

your Type " under the Dairy and Eggs section D'adamo states " Soy milk and soy

cheese are excellent, high-protein alternatives " . It is also listed under

Neutral, not under the avoid......

So as you can tell I am confused.....I'm trying to understand why it's a no-no

now.

thanks in advance for any info on this.

p.s. I did eliminate milk from my diet, but have 1 cup of soy milk a day.....

Well, unlike any other nutritional theory, today's discoveries are not

written in stones as far as the 's work is concerned. God bless

him!!!!!!

While some soy can be tolerated by few in small amounts, regular

consumption of it has been shown to cause digestive discomfort/trouble.

It is simply not digested well by Os.

As an O you have to realize that there are other sources of proteins

that are way superior for your system. (Animal origin). Right now if you

wanted to use soy it is the fermented type that is preferred like

tempeh, miso, and soy sauce. The other problem is the added ingredients

in soy milk like gums/sugar etc.

The key to your well being is adequate daily protein intake, along with

green leafy veggies, fruits, beneficial fats & lots of water & most

importantly daily strenuous exercise.

I hope this answered your question.

states " Soy milk and soy cheese are excellent, high-protein

alternatives " . It is also listed under Neutral, not under the

avoid......

So as you can tell I am confused.....I'm trying to understand why it's a

no-no now.

thanks in advance for any info on this.

p.s. I did eliminate milk from my diet, but have 1 cup of soy milk a

day.....

I have found 's opinion about O's not tolerating soy to be true

for me. I relied on soy pretty heavily when following a vegetarian

diet to avoid foods while on an elimination diet. This diet was

advised in a book called Foods That Fight Pain by Neal Barnard MD.

While eliminating certain foods did indeed give me tremendous relief,

I became " ill " in another way and couldn't seem to find the

cause...duh!! When I finally read about soy products on the web,

their history and the way they process them, I gave them up and

BINGO, my secondary illness went completely away!!!

Although the book says I can have certain things...I have to tailor

even this program to meet my individual parameters. So you might

find the same thing with differnt foods...maybe not necessarily the

soy, but other things that O's may find tasty, but our bodies find

yuckie!

Good luck,

What about Bragg Liquid Aminos? Is it fermented? Is it OK to use or

should I just always use wheat free tamari?

The Soy Dreams brand soy milk is the only one I have found that does

not have any secretor avoids in it such as gums, although it still

has plenty of sugars. I have never found any commercial almond or

rice milk that didn't have some O secretor avoids.

I buy the Soy Dreams soy milk for my kids to use with cereal and a

few recipes that I occasionally make that call for milk. I would

rather use soy milk then regular milk because of the sinus problems

my son and I have. I know giving up dairy really reduced my mucus

production!

I know the kids should not eat cereal. I am still working on weaning

them from it. It is hard for them to give it up! At least it is OK

cereal ;-)

Don

Right now if you wanted to use soy it is the fermented type that is

preferred like tempeh, miso, and soy sauce.

The other problem is the added ingredients in soy milk like

gums/sugar etc.

Thanks ,

I only buy the OK cereals now, rice, oats, kamut, etc. I just wish

my kids didn't want to eat cereal almost every day. I am sure things

would be different if when they are with their mother she would

follow ER4YT too. I think she has made some changes in their diet,

but not many or consistently. She is type O too.

One of Heidi's replies, 28 May 2002, recommended Bragg Liquid Aminos

to a type O. I am a little confused about if I should continue to

use it or not. I certainly don't use much of it. I only use it when

the meat I am eating is a little too dry ;-)

The morning cereal Quinoa works real well for me and I prefer to put

something on it. Does anyone have any idea of what I might add to it that would

give

a little more flavor. I am currently eating very little as most things

simply don't work. Fortunately I am drinking lots of the lifesaving Metagenic

products and am forever grateful for them. Feeling better each

day....espcially days that I avoid most foods....and that does sometimes get

hard...............but the more I experience what foods do to me the easier it

is to avoid

them. I am typ O and use to be addicted to flavored soy

milk.........................my colitus bought was initiated by taking a strong

antibiotic,

Keflex, but then I was under a ton of stress and drinking lots of soy

milk............................so all of that certainly played it's part.

Metagenics is wonderful..............before that I was trying to do the

" specfic carbohydrate diet " ...from the book " Breaking the Vicious Cycle,

Intestinal

Health Through Diet " ....it simply wasn't turning things around.

Thanks for all the quick responses......

Yes I am making my own soy milk, with the Soya Joy Maker.

and don't add all the weird gums, etc. Obviously I don't add any

preservatives, and add a small trace of sea salt, and Turbinado sugar.

I am using non-gmo organic soy beans.......I thought I was being good!!! So

now with that info, what's the verdict??

I have been avoiding milk, cheese (I don't care for any of the beneficial ones

yet) Ice cream, and bread, and I have been feeling great!! I did have some

no-no's this week-end at a family reunion, and I felt TERRIBLE!!

I am taking this in very slowly, making switches here and there...I don't want

to go too fast, or else it won't be a lifetime change!!

Thanks for this group....it gives me daily motivation!!

When I started the diet 4 years ago, I was encouraged to eat and drink soy

products as a substitute to dairy and wheat. No matter how hard I tried, soy

made me feel awful. Later on, Dr D et al came out and said that maybe soy

wasn't all that good for Os. There are forms of soy that are full of poisons

and

can be very dangerous. Some websites you may want to visit to be a littled

more informed about soy are:

Good for you!!!!! Your getting your body detoxed. After 4 years on the

diet, if I cheat much (especially grains), I'm sick for 2 days like a hangover.
