Bruce,

While that may be the case with these pads. That does not take away the value of

compresses which I have tried and they worked numerous times.

A neighbour had 4 children one an infant who had wind. No amount of burping

worked . The baby was crying all the time and wouldn't eat. The crying was driving

everyone crazy. Day two she takes the baby to a doctor who gives her antibiotics

(can you imagine) when that didn't work and it's now day 6 I met her coming out

with her baby. She told me the sad tale.. I said I'd try to help. Now I knew a medical

doctor who was head of the vegetarian society who believed in natural methods including

herbal remedies. I called him and explained the problem. He told me to have the woman

use a clean white cotton cloth, steep in cold water and wring out. Then place on infant's

stomach. leave for ten minutes. Then squeeze one teaspoon of apple juice from a fresh

apple. Give to infant. Within twenty minutes the infant was quiet and was able to be

breast fed again.

Here the cold compress was integral to the cure.

She was delighted. The infant was happy. so happy all round,

PS imagine using antibiotics on a young baby like that...what does it do to the

intestinal flora.

Yes, the skin has both sweat and oil glands and can be a major organ of detox that is not used as much as it should be.

"One of the worst cases of environmental toxicity in U.S. medical history was treated by a Dr. Ziem at the s Hopkins Center for Environmental Medicine. The patient was off the charts with cadmium, aluminum, silver, and mercury but was able to receive a complete cure. The skin on his entire upper body was slate grey. Dr. Ziem had to design a complete protocol from scratch in order to treat this patient. This included a strong supplement program, including high doses of Vitamin E and Selenium. No standard chelating agents were used. The most critical part of Ziem's treatment protocol was very simple: Steam Sauna Therapy. Dr. Ziem sweated the poison out of the man to the point where the patient literally sweated metals that could be wiped off with a towel. "

Bruce,

certainly. Sauna, Turkish bath, well known for their cleansing benefits.

In fact in some very hot countries they provide salt pills to replace the

salt which is lost through heat and sun exposure.

And not just salt.Other minerals as well.

Runners have drinks with protein and electrolytes, which they lose

through running long distances.

people have died on marathons due to loss of minerals.

here is a link which gives an insight into the question of how we lose minerals through the

skin and how under certain conditions this can be life thretening or terminal.

Native Americans use sweat lodges and scrape the

skin with a flexible scraper of some kind,

depending on their procedure, I imagine a dry

towel would work as well. If you don't have a dry

sauna you could probably build a sweat lodge for

cheap.

You have to be careful to stay hydrated. Ginger

before you do steam baths or dry sauna makes the

body sweat liberally. A person can get dizzy

though and the body temp can rise very high and

cause hallucinations and so forth, so keep an eye

on body temp. Bath in very clean water afterwards

while the pores are still open so all the gunk

doesn't sink back in. Under no circumstances drink

wine or alcohol:) Yoooooouuu'lll beeeeee

sorrrrryyyy if you do. An oral electrolyte

solution might be wise during and afterwards.

Good idea to start out with short sessions.

Lightheadedness can happen. And if you pass out

while in there by yourself, well you get the

picture. Might be wise to have someone who can

check on you. Kinda like a spotter.

Looks at foot pads for detox. While maybe off topic, additional detox

is/should be an important part of any iodine protocol.

Yes iodine does detox many thngs, the halides especially and some for

metals, but additional ways are needed as well.

A good part of these other methods is reducing the load on the liver and

kidneys, and catching things other means may not.

The infrared and sauna for anyone with toxic issues is something needing a

serious look and consideration.

On foot pads, much like iodine one can find a zillion articles for and

against, so one decides for themselves.

It has to do with detoxing through the skin. And

why ask me that question? I'm replying to a post

like several other people already have. The person

who started the subject can answer better than I.

But I'll give it a shot; Iodine binds the toxins,

but excretion can be through the skin, kidneys, or

digestive tract. Right now we're talking about

ways to make people sweat out toxins, and that can

spare the kidneys. Sweating out toxins is one of

the oldest ways used by mankind for ridding the

body of toxins.

Bruce,

Do you attribute your hives to iodine, and if so, what type did you use, how

much were you taking, and for how long were you taking it before your symptoms

appeared. Have the symptoms subsided at this point?

No I don't.

I started this thread asking if anyone has had that related to iodine, it

looks like not, as no-one responded saying they had.

I have used lugol's for 2 months, usually at low dose (6-12mg), though I

have been up to 30-50mg frequently.

I believe it is very unlikely iodine related but asked in case.

Hives is a hystamine reaction, usually to an allergy to something that is

often unknown, especially a one time issue.

I have no allergies, never have, so it is a mystery at this point.

While he offers a lot of good information, I don't think that Dr. Mercola

is the last word on everything-- he has his own blind spots. I get the

newsletter from the site you've linked to below and they are pretty

realistic. --

Dear Bee,

I have just experienced a large outbreak of hives. I must say I got a small

chock, but from reading the article on die off symptoms I got calm down.

My face I completely red and hot, I have rash all over my neck, my arms and

upper body. And i feels as my bodu is a bit swelled all over.

Yesterday I began all the correct supplements. I have decided to take 1000 mg.

of C-vitamin twice a day for a week and then increase it.

I have been takíng the recommended coconut oil for 2 month.

The only thing I did differently this morning was to eat turmeric with my eggs.

Do you have any suggestions for changes I should do? Or should I continue as

nothing has happened?

Thank you so much,

Caroline

Hi ,

I have just read the article about niacin flush. I am certain that is what

happened to me. And yes, yesterday was first day I took Niacin.

I took some photos of my arms, neck and face. You are welcome to get some if it

could be of any use for other people.

I still feel the after effect of the flush all over the body, even on my tongue!

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am impressed of your knowledge. Thank you so

much!!!

+++Hi Caroline. That's why you need to read and learn since the information

about niacin causing a flush is in my articles. That's why knew what

was happening, and you could too.

I worked in a doctor's office in the late 1980s, and we had to hand out info

about niacin causing a flush, because we got so many phone calls saying " I'm

allergic to B vitamins! " lol!

Back then real niacin was in all Vitamin B Complex supplements.

Cheers, Bee
