Hi Martha,

Thanks for the insights. Did you feel better for the two months in

the Caribbean when you go?

Anyone experience improvement in the salt air by the ocean? Seems to

be therapeutic for .

Hi, Gail & all,

You remark that coconut doesn't list arginine as an ingredient. But:

>PROTEIN Seed 32,000 - 77,000 ppm DUKE1992A

Arginine, as well as lysine and the other 18 amino acids, are components of

protein. There is lots of protein in coconut - about 5% by weight. The

Arg/lys ration will depend on will depend on the ratio of these two amino

acids in the proteins. I think that if you look at the protein composition

(or sequence) you will find that there is more arg than lys.

Also, coconut milk goes really well with pineapple juice - about 1 oz in an

8-oz glass.

Jerry,

Yes, it absolutely may be so; Unfortunately, Dr. Duke retired several

years ago and I am not sure if there is anyone at USDA who continues

to add to this wonderful database:-[. However, if you read my post,

I mentioned there that my husband, who suffers from Herpes Labialise,

eats half a big coconut a day. If anything, he reduced his Valtrex

intake since he started eating coconuts. Honestly, we are not sure why

he needs less Valtrex but we are sure that eating that much coconut a

day has not by any means aggravate his herpes. What really matters is

one's personal experience; coconut may not be the reason for reducing

his Valtrex but for sure it did not aggravate herpes breakouts.

BTW, coconut milk and pineapple= pinacolada :-) YUMMM

Probably

a higher quality stuff is what I use. You want virgin coconut oil -

preferably organic.

After poking around with several brands,

the Nutiva seems to taste the best. I put it on my bread in the morning.

Dear Bee,

Is it correct that I should not be eating coconut (fresh or dried) as I am

suffering from candida?

I just can't understand the difference between the nut and the coconut oil?

+++Hi Caroline. Yes that is correct. You only have unrefined coconut oil,

which is only the oil portion of the coconut, but none of the sugars, fibres,

etc. The oil is squeezed out of the coconut meat.
