Guest guest
I have now ordered things from both IHerb and Mountain Rose Herbs. Mountain Rose has reasonable prices for their products, but they more than make up for it on shipping. I had an order which came to less than 2 lb, but they charged me $9.50 for shipping. I later bought some stuff that was even lighter (just a few ounces), and the cheapest shipping was $7.15. It's not worth it if you have a small order. On eBay and Amazon.com, some sellers make their profits on the shipping, and I suspect that Mountain Rose does the same. I don't mind buying from Bee's recommended sources, but I don't like being gouged for shipping. IHerb, on the other hand, has good deals on items and great, low shipping prices. I was charged only $2.40 shipping for a 1-lb. container of NOW beef gelatin. And orders from IHerb frequently arrive the next day after I order (well, I live maybe 100 miles from them; YMMV). In addition, they give 5% discounts for orders over $60, and shipping is free for orders over a certain amount (I think it's $40.00). Nutiva's coconut oil sounds like a lot at $50 per gallon (bought singly), but shipping is free for any order over $30. So you won't be charged shipping when you order your 1 gallon of coconut oil. Again: Watch out for shipping charges from Mountain Rose. It may not be worth it to buy small amounts of things. So far, Mountain Rose is the only source of unsweetened vanilla bean powder. If anyone knows of another source, I'd be grateful to hear about it. Next time, I will wait until I have a lot of things to order, so that the shipping charges will be spread out over more items.
