Guest guest
Hi ; Here is the lotion recipe that I use all of the time. I have never had a failure yet. 2 TBS (1 oz) Emulsifying Wax 2 TBS (1 oz) Shea Butter 2TBS (1 oz) Sunflower Oil but you can use any kind of oil that you want to use If you want to make a cream use 6 ounces of warm distilled water If you are making a lotion use 12 ounces of warm distilled water. 15 drops of either fragrance oil or essential oil. Melt the butter oil and wax together. Once melted slowly add the warm water stirring all of the time. I use a stick blender and blend for about 5 minutes. Add the fragrance and pour into jars or bottles. It will be water thin but it will thicken in a few hours. When a cream or lotion seems too greasy, I will add a little bit of natrasorb and that will take away the greasy feeling. I got my natrasorb from Snowdrift Farms, but if you have an Asian market near you buy some tapioca flour that is the same thing. Guest guest
Raven, I apologize for asking questions on your answer to but ....you mentioned natrasorb to get rid of greasiness..how much of that would you use and when would you add that to the cream or lotion?? Thanks, Vicki
Guest guest
Raven, Thank you..that did answer my question . I made this lotion that I really like except that it is so greasy in the beginning so I can't wait to try the natrasorb !!! Vicki
Guest guest
Hi Vicki; No need to apologise you are just asking a question. You can put it in when you are first making your lotion before you are ready to bottle it.The recipe thay I use makes about 18 ounces of lotion about 9 ounces of cream.I would start with about a scant teaspoon in the lotion and half a scant teaspoon in the cream. You can test it and if it still seems too greasy just add a pinch bit more, untill you get the right feeling. This stuff really works and I wouldn't be without it. You can also make a liquid body powder with it. The instructions on how to make it is on Smowdrift Farms web site. Hope this answers your question Raven
Guest guest
Raven, you are wonderful!!!!!!!! Will adding vitamin E, emu oil or jojoba ruin this. Must proportions stay the same i.e. 2,2,2,. How long does this last? Does it have to be refrigerated? Is finished product double in volume or what? I just like to have an idea what the finished cream should be like so I know I've done it correctly. thanks and thanks again. Re: LOTION > Hi ; > Here is the lotion recipe that I use all of the time. Guest guest
Hi ; I don't think that the Vit E would hurt it would probally help keep the oils from goping rancid, but it i s not a preservative. I can't answer your question about the Emu oil or the Jojoba oil as I have never used them in any recipes. You wouldn't have to stay with the 2 2 2 except for the E wax. You could probally use say 1 Tabs of Almond Oil 1 Tabs grapeseed oil etc but use enough for the 4 Tabs or 2 oz of oil. I dosen't have to be refrigerated and I have a jar of cream that is over three months old and it is still fresh. But when I make my next batch I am going to add some preservative. When I bought my natrasorb from Snowdrift Farms I also bought a jar of methylparabin perservative. It depends on how much water you use. I use at least 6 ounces of water when I make my cream and at least 12 ounces of water for the lotion. You will get at least 12 ounces of cream and at least 18 ounces of lotion. Both come out very smooth and creamy they are both snow white, so you can color them if you want to.I bought some mica from & at Between Friends Too. So I am going to put the mica in my next batch also. For that I will put the cream into the jar first then add a few drops of the fragrance then add the mica in a corresponding color. But I make this for my self and family and friends, so I don't make up large batches to sell so that is why I scent and color each jar or bottle individually. I hope that I have answered all of your questions. Raven

I try to have patience and I do believe that you should treat people the way that you want them to treat you. I am not a religious person but I am very metaphysical. Guest guest
Goodmorning Jeanine! Aww thats so cute of him to share!!! Shaye lotion Hi all, Question of the day. One of my daughters asked if anyone makes a lotion similar to Aveeno - the one with oatmeal. Would love to have that recipe if it's available. The grandkids were here for dinner yesterday and their big thing is going up to Grandma's extra bedroom, aka the soap drying room, so that they can sniff the soaps. Devin has to take his 'critter' bar to the Y so that he can shower after swimming. He told me he shares with his friend because 'Josh doesn't have neat soap like I do'. Love those kids!!! Hope everyone is surviving this awful humidity. Guest guest
Ellie I just made a lotion for my Christmas customers and it was a real nice out come. I use Shealoe, Medowfoam and Peach Kernel for oils. Ewax and Steric to emulsify and thicken and IPM ( Isopropyl Myristate a silicone oil) to make it soak in nice. Distilled water to make the lotion. I have found that glycerin makes lotions sticky. It may have something to do with the weather where you live but I never use it. With all the oils why would you need glycerin? Here is the exact recipe for 30 ounces of lotion. When you heat your oils you need to get to 150 degrees to melt the ewax and steric acid. Your water should be the same temp. If you cool it to fast it will look grainy. This recipe can be used with any oils you like. I like the lighter oils that soak into the skin well. Any emulsion using water and oils will need a preservative. I like phenonip because it will kill both bacteria and molds and is not heat sensitive. 4.50 ounces oils 22.50 ounces water 0.9 ounces ewax 1.20 ounces steric 0.90 ounces IPM Phenonip Preservative 0.3 ounces

Guest guest
Hi You can get IMP at http://lotioncrafter.com/index.html There is no s at the end of lotioncrafter. With computers what they are I don't think it will go through the other way. is wonderful and if you have any questions you can ask away and she will help you. You might also ask about dimethicone too. Both give your lotion a fab feel. Shealoe is a butter of sorts. It is a combination of aloe and shea. I get it from Jade Green Beans. Rissa is great and has great prices on scents and she is running a special on the shealoe right now. If you join her list you get a great discount on scents. All of her fo's are excellent. Guest guest
I'd guess she didn't heat it long enough. It probably has a higher melting point, but I never had any trouble melting ewax with the rest of my oils. Same with using beeswax in lip balm, the wax just melts last. Tell her to just give it a little longer. Traci
Guest guest
Is there a reason you are using a base? from all the additives you mention and such... you could create your own very easily. I have no experience with bases at all, Just check with your manufacturer for reccomendations on safe % of stuff you can add and not affect the PH or render the preservative useless. Guest guest
Hi Bee, In your opinion is this product okay to use? It seems to me like everything in it is okay except I was unsure about the grapefruit seed extract? Should I not use this because of it? Thanks! http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_moisturizing_lotions.htm
