Hi ,

Since you said it came after taking your supplements on an empty stomach, you

can be fairly certain that you had a niacin flush. I know it's scary the first

time you have it since your skin feels on fire and it can be quite itchy, but

it's nothing to worry about.

It should subside within an hour or so.

Hi ,

I forgot to mention that you shouldn't take any benedryl because it's toxic and

it will likely stop your flush. Instead, you want your skin to flush since it

opens up your blood vessels and has many benefits.

But should the niacin flush also include large patches of hives?

++Hi . No, a niacin flush doesn't usually include hives, but it can since

it helps your body detoxify.

Hives are caused by the immune system producing histamine, which is a healing

substance that helps get rid of toxins. So that's not a bad thing.
