Guest guest
I have a patient who is exactly the same. We have ran numerous tests, tried different meal plans (combining cho's and protein, reactive hypoglycemic plan). He keeps a food journal and usually does not consume more than 1200 cal per day. Our surgeon states that some patients will have gi pains like this for no apparent reason and there's not much that can be done about that. I really don't like that answer and I'd like to do more for this patient. He wakes up in the middle of the night to eat because of this pain. Our CMA is 5yrs post-op RNY and experiences this pain, not as frequently as our patients but enough. She uses Mylanta extra strength (liquid) with anti-gas. Does anyone have an idea what this could be? , RD, CD gas pains Hi, I have been seeing a pt for several months who is 17 months post bypass. She complains of severe gas pains if she goes longer than 2 hours without something in her stomach. She has tried drinking more fluid between meals and has used papaya enzyme with little success. She also complains of this happening with any solid food. I am concerned she will end up consuming too many calories if she reverts back to pureed food or soft foods and if she ends up grazing all day. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Mogg, RD, CNSD
Guest guest
If the pain is truly caused by gas she may benefit from gas-x or similar products. I don't know what would help if it is not actually gas causing the pain. gas pains Hi, I have been seeing a pt for several months who is 17 months post bypass. Guest guest
Walk, walk, cry, walk, walk, cry some more, walk and keep on walking! These pains DO go away, I promise! Be careful with what you select to drink AND how you drink it. Take small sips, getting rid of the air out of your mouth before you swallow. Patience? It will eventually go away. GasX may make it worse so try to go without it. Guest guest
walk walk walk. That took away so much of the gas pain for me. Also, used some gas-x strips but walking worked way better :)Congrats on your band - keep us updated on your progress and questions. Guest guest
Hi - welcome to your new healthier, banded life! First of all, you need to tell us what type of " gas " pain you are having. gas X does not help at all with the most common kind. please see the education module i'll post next, then tell us more. Your doc should have educated you well on all this!! Sandy r > > Hello friends, > > I am on day 10 post op banding and I am still having issues with gas pains. I have walked everyday, I am on my 3rd box of Gas X strips. Did anyone else experience the gas pains for so long after surgery? I appreciate reading the posts and responses, it sure does help a newbie like me. > > from Texas > > surgery date: 2/25/10 > seminar Oct 2009 - weight 248 > presurgery weight - 230 > weight today - 217 >
Guest guest
Bee, for the past couple of days I have been suffering from terrible gas pains. I have read on a lot of sites that a high fat diet can cause this. I know you feel differently but I can't deal with the pain much longer. I'm afraid I may have to discontinue the diet. I have been drinking ginger tea but it only helps to a certain degree. I know you don't recommend charcoal tablets but can they just be taken when needed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom
Guest guest
Hi Tom, First of all, a diet high in the good kind of fats that Bee recommends in not going to cause you problems. The good fats do begin the process of helping your body heal and detoxify...and one of the symptoms of that is gas, so in a way, that could cause your symptoms. But that's a good thing! But, that's also why it's necessary to take your time to build up to the appropriate level of fats that are recommended. This diet causes you to look at what is going on with and in your body in a way that is different from the traditional way of thinking. Besides ginger tea, there are other things that you can do to help assist the detoxification process that you've begun with the implementation of this program. For instance, I just went to Bee's website and plugged the words, " gas and bloating " into the search bar. I got links to several articles that give helpful information and ideas. You might try that for yourself and see what you find and what you feel like you can do. Bee's website is here: www.healingnaturallybybee.com here are a few things I found that might inform you: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods15.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/dig3.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/help1.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/recipes/recipe303.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/detox.php Many folks in the beginning stages of this program have poor digestion and need some help with that. That's why HCL and/or sauerkraut are, in my opinion, crucial parts of each meal. Sauerkraut has saved me many times. If you're not including these in your daily diet, you might give them a try to see if they don't help your gas issues. The other thing that will help is enemas. You might also benefit from the 9-day program where all foods are liquid or pureed. here's a link to the 9-day program: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/dig6.php please remember, things get worse before they get better and natural healing takes time but it's soooooo worth it! all the best, Jackie (group moderator) > > Bee, for the past couple of days I have been suffering from terrible gas pains.
