Guest guest
OOOOOHHH!! _ I just had a brainstorm - I bet it would work well to get a good nut-butter (avoid peanuts like the plague), pour off the oil on top, and replace with VCO! (I am struggling to get VCO into me somehow; I find the flavor and smell repulsive, but a good nut buter smell/flavor might overpower the VCO...) Will let you all know how it works out... Will report on how it works > I also make toast - one slice of italian/french > bread will hold about > two tablesspoons.........add peanut butter or > splenda and cinnamon - > it is fantastic. Guest guest
Hi (don't know what to call you since you didn't sign): You are so lucky that you can take SO MUCH of the VCO, which will be of great benefit to you and your Thyroid. When I first started using it, I took 3 tbsp or more per day and within about 3 days I was awake all night. It was very stimulating to me. But while I took that much I had no aches and pains and no discomfort from the artery blockage I have above my right leg. But once I had to cut back, that pain returned in full force. Your ideas for using it are great, but I wouldn't use Splenda or any RE-ARRANGED molecules of sugar. If I wasn't Diabetic, I would put lots of VCO on warm toast and then on top of that I would slather Nutella. Yum. Dr. Bruce Fife has lots of recipes in his book " Coconut Lover's Cookbook " for any dish you might think of, supper, salad dressings, SMOOTHIES with the Coconut Milk, cookies, cakes and so on. Bonnie Re: Recipes Hi i'm new, I had joined the VCO coconut forum, but they never went back on line, so am so happy someone on my thyroid group mentioned this one...... Anyway.I use VCO instead of butter and all oils.......I use it on my skin - you can put a lot on, it absorbs, leaves your skin feeling wonderful in about 10 min. I make a chocolate candy - melt dark chocolate (in micro), add lots of the VCO, add nuts or shredded coconut - cool and ENJOY!!!!! Quick, sinful and easy. I also make toast - one slice of italian/french bread will hold about two tablesspoons.........add peanut butter or splenda and cinnamon - it is fantastic. I love pouring it on my corn on the cob........the sweetness of the oil with the corn is very good. I also bought the coconut cream and the flakes..I haven't done much of anything with these - anyone have idea's???? SeaLady > > Hi, > > has anybody recipes for cookies with coconut flour or VCO? Guest guest
I'd mix the nut oil in, rather than throw it away. It is very valuable food. Guest guest
Yes, I realize that, but with the coconut oil mixed in, I thought it would be too oily for sandwiches, celery, etc. I'll try and see...perhaps I'll just spoon it in with all the oils! --- Nina Moliver <yoganina@...> wrote: > I'd mix the nut oil in, rather than throw it away. > It is very valuable > food. > > Nina > > Re: Re: Recipes > > > OOOOOHHH!! _ I just had a brainstorm - I bet it > would > work well to get a good nut-butter (avoid peanuts > like > the plague), pour off the oil on top, and replace > with > VCO! > > (I am struggling to get VCO into me somehow; I find > the flavor and smell repulsive, but a good nut buter > smell/flavor might overpower the VCO...) > > Will let you all know how it works out... > > > -- > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.1.409 / Virus Database: 268.13.32/523 - > Release Date: 11/7/2006 > >
Guest guest
Hi, thanks for the input, I thought Splenda was ok since it came from real sugar – I’ll have to get more stevia. I also don’t recall on any of my forums about peanut butter being bad for us hypo’s, I’ll look into it.. I’m on two of ’s forums – Natural Thyroid Hormones (NTH) and Thyroid@, the NTH is excellent if you want to know all about Armour thyroid – the other group has people who are taking different meds as well as Armour. I’m also on StopTheThyroidMadness.com which really explains the difference between the Synthroid type meds and Armour. And after getting tested (saliva) I also joined the NTH’s Adrenal group (many thyroid people also have adrenal problems). I use the Sea Salt Vit C protocol for my adrenals along with Isocort and take Iodoral for my thyroid. Plus, it seems like, a thousand different supplements. I have always had horrible hip joint pain and just this weekend I experience the joy of taking a walk on the beach without coming back in incredible pain…………I think finally some of what I have gleamed from these groups is finally paying off. Hence the SeaLady – I live in Florida on the Beach…….. Kaylee -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Splenda had a very clever marketing campaign that was intended to make you think it was safe- but nothing could be further from the truth. Stevia is and has been my choice since 1991. In case you weren't aware there is one company Sweetleaf that is putting out the liquid extract in several flavors I personally have the vanilla and the english toffee- both are quite delicious. I use either one in my Kefir along with a bit of VCO. I also have a supply that i grew and either dried or tinctured myself- thats how much I love the stuff. huggs zoe Wednesday, November 8, 2006, 8:00:39 PM, you wrote: > Hi, thanks for the input, I thought Splenda was ok since it came from real > sugar ? Guest guest
I also grew stevia here in fl at one time - but unless I do from seed, I have had a hard time finding it again...the flavored ones sound good too. SeaLady
Guest guest
You can buy the plants online. http://www.stevia-plant.com/products.cfm Hint. Next time you get a good plant be sure to take cuttings for next years crops. I understand the plant is only good for about 2 yrs, but cuttings can keep them going forever. The flavored ones are totally delicious. I grew my own this year , but still bought these. huggs zoe Thursday, November 9, 2006, 7:04:54 AM, you wrote: > I also grew stevia here in fl at one time - but unless I do from seed, I > have had a hard time finding it again...the flavored ones sound good too. > > SeaLady >

Guest guest
You don't really need any special recipes hon, just replace any oils or shortenings with VCO ounce for ounce, pound for pound. Turns your regular recipes into a special treat. Huggs zoe Sunday, February 18, 2007, 10:37:29 AM, you wrote: > Does anyone have any good recipes using VCO? Guest guest
Hi , My wife saw one of your recipes and was blown away. If you are still emailing, I would like them too. Best wishes,Jerry Heath From: Burson <burson.carrie@...>Subject: recipes Date: Sunday, July 6, 2008, 10:24 PM RNCATTEAPOT off of OH sent these two recipes to me. Wanted to share. I'll also add them to my recipe file on Dr. Aceves files. Asian Chicken Salad: (Could be adapted to whatever kind of meat you can eat... if you can't do chicken.) Take one rotisserie chicken and get all the meat out of it. Set aside and let cool.Open bag of prepared salad (I like romaine)Open 1-2 cans of mandarin oranges (this is easy!).Take one package of ramen noodles, save the broth package for after a fill when you are on liquids only, and break up the noodles into little pieces. "Fry" the noodles in a skillet on medium heat with 4 T margarine until well browned. Layer the salad, chicken, mandarin oranges in a bowl. Top with Kraft light asian sesame salad dressing. Top with ramen noodles for crunch! Yummy!!!!ICE CREAM SANDWICHES: Another good recipe is for non-dairy (since that upsets band patients stomachs often) ice cream sandwiches. Take 2 squares of chocolate graham crackers and fill with about 1 T of light cool whip. Freeze. VERY GOOD and about 70 calories per sandwich. Guest guest
Jerry, When you pull this email up, you should see a box to the right that says "recent activity". Click on new files. It will take you to all of Dr. Aceves's group files. Click on the one that says recipes from bursonc (or something like that). There's a lot there. I will continue to add to them so just keep checking. If you can't get to them, email me again (burson.carrie@...) and I'll forward them to you. There's one that's too big for the group's file. Go ahead and email me and I'll send it out. I'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon for a few days, so I'll get it to you before then or after I get back. Take care. Guest guest
Hi and Welcome! We have a few recipes here in the files, but there are no special recipes needed for bandsters - we can eat most foods. Any heart-healthy recipe from WW or any low-fat cookbook is easily adapted to bandster needs. Just avoid the problem and poor-nutrition foods like breads, potatoes, whote rice, white pasta, skins on fruit, etc.Choose foods, as ytou are, with good protein, good fiber, the " good " carbs, and the omega 3 oils. Crockpots are ideal to produce soft and moist foods. At only 2 months, you likely don't have an ideal (or perhaps any) fill yet. As you get more fill, you'll need - as we all do - to refine and perfect your food choices and eating skills more and more. Thera are also a couple WLS cookbooks listed in the " suggested reading " list in the files. I know a couple people here also have recipe sites, so i'll let them pipe up also! Glad you're with us! When you have a chance, go thru the many teaching documents here in the database, files, andd links, and ask any questions you think of. Sandy r > > Hey everyone! I'm new to the group.
