That sounds Yummy...I'm going to try this!

Hey, I love this idea with posting easy recipes. I have a hard time

with cooking, because I get so tired! I'm sure a lot of you can

relate.

I'll try to find some to share, or invent one...LOL.. OK I'll just

post the ones I've found in a cook book or something.

Have fun and keep posting more recipes!

I suggested putting recipes on here awhile back.

I think it is interesting seeing what are the favorite recipes of others.

It is neat whether we are a Galloping Gourmet, French Chef or just someone

who knows how to basically get around in the kitchen besides boiling water

and nuking our food. :-)

Speaking of recipes, I hope you will enjoy this one.

;)

ELEPHANT STEW

1 large elephant

2 rabbits

Salt and pepper

Take 1 large elephant and cut into bit size pieces.

Salt and pepper to taste. Place in a large stew pot

over outdoors fire. Simmer for 4 weeks, until tender.

This will serve approximately 3,800 people. If more

people come than expected, add the 2 rabbits, but don't

do this unless necessary, because most people do not

like to find hare in their stew.

I don't think we are forgetting the listserv's function by occasionally

posting some recipes. Just like people share jokes, etc., on here which at

times hasn't been dwarfism related. I happen to think its interesting and

since we are people with dwarfism who either cook for ourselves or eat find

it beneficial. It is not like we are talking politics or religion or that a

cookbook's worth of recipes are being posted on here.

Besides how many dwarfism topics can we discuss? At times we discuss the

same topics because new ones come on or just want to recall suggestions from

previous.

I think it makes the listserv more interesting and diversified to talk about

other issues that do relate to people with dwarfism such as the recipe thing

again because whether or not we all cook we do eat. :-)

I agree with Helen. I get very tired cooking. My hips ache, due to my

dwarfism. It's encouraging to see SIMPLE recipes that other people

with my condition do make. I dont' see the problem with this. It get

boring talking about negative dwarfism issues about aches and pains,

and discrimination, etc. I think this IS dwarfism related. We are

people with dwarfim, and we have to cook, and these are some things

we cook to make life a little simpler. I think if you don't want to

read the recipes, just skip these posts.

Bravo,

I agree. This is quite fun and it surely outrates the bashing on each other.

This is one thing that we have in common, and how many nasty things can you

say about a

recipe?

,besides you are a single gent, right? Why not copy these down and try

them?

Eventually all good things come to an end,so those of you that are tired of

the recipes, just wait, and some good arguments will start soon.

Well -- I do like to bake and cook and give it away - which is a good

thing. I hardly ever make something and keep the whole thing if it

is something sweet. I always make sure that at least half goes

somewhere else!

Hi - I'm very new to coconut oil, and have just

received my order from Wilderness of oil, milk, water,

fiber, desiccated coconut, and flour. Does anyone know

of a site for recipes where I don't have to buy a

book? (I blew the wad on the products!!) Thanks in

advance...

Thanks ! I'm not much of a cook, so am hoping

to find some easy recipes that I could use the

products in. I tried mixing the oil into yogurt, for

example, but it made it " crunchy " because it was cold

and solidified! I've been making a smoothie with kefir

and coconut water, that's delicious, but I realize I'm

not getting as much of the benefits of the oil that

way. I really don't cook with oil, except to make eggs

perhaps, but don't really want to have coconut

flavored eggs!

Thanks again -

Debbie

I didn't use to cook with oil too much either, now it's a luxury to

cook with oil again and saute and add it to my soups etc with no

weight gain! I would gain weight when I would cook with canola or

safflower, olive, etc. If you blend it with smoothies, your smoothie

can't be icy cold. I have no problem using coconut milk and adding a

bit of oil to my smoothies and blending super well. But I never make

icy smmoothies.

I used it to make tacos. I coated each tortilla in VCO, filled the

tortilla and then baked it in the oven until crisp. No one noticed

that it was made with VCO.

When I make dressings and sauces, and also use the VCO.

Count on me to ruin it for you!

Ice cold things create a sharp contraction of the internal organs and slow down

their power, or " fire " as it is known in Ayurveda. People have been known to

have dramatic healing just from changing their habits of eating ice, ice cream,

and cold foods.

Raw food has a similar effect, although not as much. That's why, even though

the initial impact of all-raw can be good, people often eventually get weak and

depleted from it, especially in colder climates. Leading herbalist

Tierra says that people who stay on all-raw long-term sometimes reach a point of

no return in their bodies. Living in Boston, however, I don't know anybody who

has stayed on all-raw that long. After a few years, they tend to give up, often

not giving a reason why; or else they move to a sunnier climate, again not

really explaining why.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I've just googled this. It is difficult to get coconut flour, egg

and gluten free receipes. One or the other. I would adapt a

receipe taking out egg. I don't use eggs in breadmaking. Yesterday

i made a loaf using Spelt as i'm trying to avoid normal wheat.

However it still contains gluten, so it probably won't be suitable

for you. It was lovely, really nutty. It proves quicker so

difficult to do in machine but used dough setting and then did it in

normal oven. I've never used coconut flour, can't get it locally,

will have to order it. I don't know if that will work in machine,

but can't wait to try it anyway. I'm sure someone else will have a

receipe when more people come on line.

, Dr. Fife has a cookbook for the Flour but I don't see any bread

recipes in it. There must be a reason for that. Oops I was wrong, yes there is

but they're all made with lots of eggs.

Hi Jo

This is from Bruce Fife's book 'The Coconut Oil Miracle'

Coconut cookies

3 cups flour

1 1/2 cups grated or shredded coconut

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 cups coconut oil

3 eggs

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract.

preheat ove 375 d.f. Mix together flour, coconut, baking powder, and

salt and set aside. Blend coconut oil, eggs, sugar, and almond

extract. Mix wet and dry ingredients together. Roll dough into 1

1/2 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Flatten

ball to about 1/2 inch thickness. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until

pale tan. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Each cookie contains 1/2

tablespoon coconut oil.

makes 36 to 40 cookies.

Hi i'm new, I had joined the VCO coconut forum, but they never went

back on line, so am so happy someone on my thyroid group mentioned

this one......

Anyway.I use VCO instead of butter and all oils.......I use it on my

skin - you can put a lot on, it absorbs, leaves your skin feeling

wonderful in about 10 min.

I make a chocolate candy - melt dark chocolate (in micro), add lots of

the VCO, add nuts or shredded coconut - cool and ENJOY!!!!! Quick,

sinful and easy.

I also make toast - one slice of italian/french bread will hold about

two tablesspoons.........add peanut butter or splenda and cinnamon -

it is fantastic.

I love pouring it on my corn on the cob........the sweetness of the

oil with the corn is very good.

I also bought the coconut cream and the flakes..I haven't done much of

anything with these - anyone have idea's????
