Guest guest
I have real deal wicked hepC. There is no way in hell I could work the trades. I can work maybe two hours doing say painting and prep and then I start to get sick. I take 500mgs of milkthistle three times a day. It realy does work in some way. Probablly by reducing swelling and portal hypertension. Milkthistle was first recorded being used by Roman physicians on liver problems in 300 AD. So anything that has been in use that long is not bunk. It has a limited value. There real cure is going to be the protease inhibitors made by Vertex Corp like VX-950 scheduled to be on pharmacy shelfves by 2010. I hope I make it. My one friend Joe Plesant made it with three liver transplants. But it just stabalized him. It's a rough deal. You must not be to sick yet if you can work. I hope you stay that way. Cheers, Carybob Larson <bobLists@...> wrote: ...low calcium & magnesium can do that too. eat some broccoli & all better quick. i'mm a painter/paperhanger & working on ladders using forarms/upper body a lot, often long hours running on empty, i go through this. a salad bar hit with meaningful greens (not iceberg)calcium enriched orange juice (the good tropicana NFC) & a banana or two does wonders immediately. > Re: Milk Thistle > > > OK, my nutritional healing book says to take 200 to 400 > milligrams 3 x a day. Guest guest
sounds pretty miserable Carey. i have to work, sick or not, or the whole scene collapses & i & others end up homeless in short order, & i'd rather be in prison than homeless again, & rather be dead than in the republicans privatized prisons (that's how they like it i suppose - it would be nice if their thieving hypocrite convicted politicians & lobbyists get equal mistreatment/neglect like they're supposed to). i make myself eat right when i can afford to & it helps a lot. i don't get hungry or enjoy food anymore like i used to... i just start getting sick & know that i have to eat soon or else. the smell of all paint products (i won't handle oil based any more) makes me bearably sick, but intermittent fibromyalgia-like symptons & dizziness sometimes make it dangerous or at least unaffordably inefficient. bobL > Re: Milk Thistle > > > > > > OK, my nutritional healing book says to take 200 to 400 > > milligrams 3 x a day. Guest guest
....i'd thought i might've seen something go by on this list about those effects but hadn't followed the link to read yet. ok, MT appears to be contraindicated not a good thing when one is on any of those various Rx drugs. i use none of them (i'd rather be depressed, outta whack,...so far at least), only an OTC pain reliever very rarely, imported cigar leaf obsessively ...so i wonder if there's further findings re the MT effect on that enzymes role in processing foods & their by-products in the system or whatever the enzymes usual job is that anyone has run into? i just got home from grocery shopping with my first ever little bag of MT seeds ready to start grinding some up every day. i just did a google search on CYP3A4 & followed the wikipedia link where i don't understand much, but within that the clickable word xenobiotics helps clarify. my tentative conclusion for the moment is that if not taking OTC or Rx drugs, eating organically -especially antibiotic & hormone free animal flesh- to avoid weird drugs, & avoiding various industrial pollution, the MT may be a good thing. to the extent that the body gets polluted with all the crap of our questionably wonderful decadent lifestyle maintenance & production suppression of the activity of the CYP3A4 gets harmful. am i reading this correctly??? bobL > Re: Milk Thistle > > > Jeri, > Yes, milk thistle is a 'Liver Soothing' herb and has been used for > years. Guest guest
depending on her attitude, constitution, & consumption level expect rapidly developing cirrhosis leading to transplant or a pretty ugly death. my first hand experience is in watching a very depressed & hopelessly frustrated disappointed guy in his 40's go knowingly & willingly from apparently normal health to bloated, jaundiced, incapacitated, then dead over about 8 months...hep-C was unknown then....he drank cheap wine steadily whenever conscious. towards the end noone would let him crash in their apts because he'd pee & shit himself (foul fluids--he barely ate any solid food unless forced) so he ended up sleeping in the crawl space under a schizo hoodoo christian's apt. at one point we carted him off to a liver place that accepted the indigent where he started getting better but he escaped & came back & continued drinking as soon as he had the strength. there is no doubt whatsoever that the cirhossis will happen....the more she drinks the faster the progression... unless she does a psychological/spiritual turnaround & quits drinking. if she drinks progressively harder instead of less you both would be better off if she just kills herself unless you have some means of forceful intervention to get her help. to drag those around her through it seem plain mean & evil to me. > Re: Milk > Thistle > > > > > > > > > OK, my nutritional healing book says to take 200 > to 400 > > > milligrams 3 x a day. Guest guest
My best friend died at 41. She drank a full bottle of scotch every day. One day, she became bloated and told me she looked like she was pregnant - she said she " thought " she had hepatitis since we'd both had it 20 years earlier. She was dead within 2 months. -----Original Message----- My fiance and I werediagnosed a couple months ago. Neither one of us would have even known, its never made either one of us feel or get sick. Guest guest
I take Pure Encapsulations Silymarin which is milk thistle. This brand doesn't use excipients, binders or fillers. You can order it online at purecaps.com. From: M. <mmmgym@...> Subject: Milk thistle iodine Date: Monday, August 17, 2009, 7:54 AM  Hi group:  I have decided to take Milk Thistle because of what people have reported on this site. I seem to have swelling in many places on my body and feel I need to support my liver. I cannot afford the UltraCleanse at this time.  I am taking the supplements and meds that are the protocol mentioned on 's site and have been for over a yr. now. My weight continues to rise and the swelling is on the upper inside of my lower legs, above my elbow, above my collar bone, arm pits and upper abdomen.  I exercise 3-4 days a week, both cardio and strength training. My question is, does it matter what brand of Milk Thistle I purchase? The one I saw in the store has magnesium silicate and vegetable magnesiulm stearate in it also. If I am already taking BalanCe, which has magnesium in it, will I be getting too much magnesium if it is in the milk thistle also? The label said the recommended dosage was 175mgs. 2x a day.  Thanks for everyone's help.
Guest guest
Another really good milk thistle is a milk thistle complex tincture by Bio Force. It contains supportive herbs for gall bladder and kidneys. It's really good potent stuff. My mom used it several years ago when her dobie developed hepatitis. It saved her life and brought her liver enzymes down to normal in about 3 months. http://www.vitasprings.com/milk-thistle-complex-liquid-bioforce.html Lorie > > Hi group: >  > I have decided to take Milk Thistle because of what people have reported on this site. >  > >

Guest guest
Hello, I bought some Milk Thistle because on the website there is a section that recommends Milk Thistle for support of the liver. Would this be good as I have had alot of liver issues? I am not sure Bee wants us to use this, would this herb in capsule form be considered a diretic? It isn't necessary to take Milk Thistle since this program supports the liver extremely well because it is high in " good " fats which are so important for a good healthy liver and gall bladder. Of course good oils include supplements such as omega 3, and vitamins A, D & E, since they all work together in the body. If your liver is painful you should do coffee enemas and dry skin brushing to help it, in addition to the diet and supplements. But otherwise don't be concerned. Steph milk thistle I read in an email in this group that taking milk thistle is a good idea for liver support, but I just read on another site that it can mimic estrogen. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks,Kim
